Stopped in for lunch while traveling and food was ok but pricey. The nachos were a great value, lots of food! BLT was a little light on the fillers. $4 for basic frozen fries was excessive. Smokey Bonz burger was ok, pulled pork was flavorless. Restaurant and restrooms were clean, looks like it doubles as a bar. Employees were very polite.

After being deceived by my GPS about arrival time I walked in at closing time. They offer to still feed me after hours! I know what customer service is when I see you!

I had to wait to cross the border so I thought let’s check that place out.
The place is devided in two sections, but it’s one place. Nice entourage. I’ve been talking with the owner while I was waiting for my 1/2 lbs burger. The owner is a nice guy and the burger was good.
Definitely coming back when I’ve to cross the border at Portal ND

I love finding little places off the beaten path like this one. I love the eclectic and nostalgic feel of this place. The building is an old brick building over a century old. They even have a couple metal top spiral pieces off an old barn mounted upside down on the ceiling.
Service was fast and friendly. They take everything here from cash to debit or credit. They even take Canadian cash here too!
Lol!
Ordered the chef salad and found all the ingredients on point and even had a pleasant surprise finding out they had blue cheese dressing which is my favorite but so hard to find at a restaurant.
The atmosphere was great and loved the food. Will definitely be back if the opportunity presents itself.

Great Surprise
I recommend crossing the Canadian border at North Portal just so you have the opportunity to sample the pulled pork. The place doesn’t look like much but the pulled pork was amazing. The owner is from Tennessee and his heritage shows on the barbeque. He has a different take on the coleslaw that I also liked.

I had the pulled pork nachos the first night. The pulled pork is very good. The second night the kitchen was closed because they has no water… I’m assuming the pipes froze because temps were well below 0°. Beer was ice cold. Dart boards, slot machines etc…You can’t expect much better than that in a town that size. If I ever cross the border here again I would go back.

Excellent old bar with lots of Character. Amazing smoked wings and the owner Jay, is an interesting chap! Not great signage but it’s easy to find. Portal is right on the Canadian border and Thursday night is CBS at par!
