Zarina’s Verdict
Verdict:

I was looking for a place to lounge while waiting for some friends in the city. I found bar TWLV as I searched for lounges. It sits inside a hotel, and its food was right on point!

I ordered a Cesar salad with grilled prawns. It was delicious! I appreciate their attentiveness in that they confirmed my knowledge that the salad came with anchovies.

While there I met some people at the bar, we had a good conversation in the moment, and I went on to meet my friends.

I recommend Bar TWLV as a place for a tasty bite and possible conversation with strangers. ✨

Amazing cocktails and delicious burgers! Great place to eat if staying at the Marriott and you are too tired to venture out. I ordered the burger with sweet potato fries and it was delicious. Seating is seat yourself and service was great.

Good for a hotel bar/restaurant. It was a seat yourself situation, but I still asked the bartender where I could sit, so was immediately handed menus. He came back over basically right as I closed the menus. I got a Hefeweizen and an IPA then I got the Reuben sandwich. The beers were good and cold in clean glassware. The sandwich was triple decker and I got it with a salad instead of fries. I do wish they would have kept the extra slice of bread and provided more meat.

The only reason it’s not five stars is because it took quite a while for the sandwich to come out. The kitchen seemed to be a bit slow.

This restaurant is the bar part of a hotel. We ordered Angus Beef Burger here and both the burger and the fries were delicious.

Sorel’s Bar and Lounge is a great place, the food is really good, and there are plenty of options available for drinks. The “Expats get together” they have there are really cool for meeting new people from all over the world

Solid bar. Kitchen closes at 11pm but the bar stays open. Good selection and friendly bar tenders.

The food was forgettable. The Old Fashioned was mid. The service was suboptimal. We had to wave down the staff to put our requests.

Sharif has taken excellent care of us for a few days. The drinks are good, and the food is as good anything else we’ve found around here. It is calm and has a few of the best people watching tables around.

In my opinion, Sorel’s Bar in Amsterdam is a standout spot, especially if you’re someone who appreciates a blend of local charm and modern sophistication. The bar does an amazing job of bringing in a Dutch influence—especially through their selection of local gins, beers, and snack options—while still offering a trendy, cosmopolitan feel that’s appealing to locals and travelers alike.

The cocktails here are thoughtfully crafted, and the focus on quality ingredients makes a real difference. I love that they highlight Dutch elements without overdoing it; it feels authentic, not gimmicky. The ambiance strikes a great balance, too: it’s stylish yet unpretentious, making it a comfortable place to sit back and relax, whether you’re out with friends or just stopping by on your own for business.

Service-wise, they’re efficient and friendly, which adds to the whole experience. Plus, the bartenders know their stuff and are genuinely enthusiastic, which makes for a nice interaction when ordering. All in all, I’d say Sorel’s is one of those bars that’s ideal for a memorable night out—cool enough for a special occasion but relaxed enough to visit anytime. It’s definitely worth a visit if you’re in Amsterdam and want a taste of the local bar scene with a twist of sophistication.
