This was my second visit here. It’s nothing fancy but food is good. (It’s not healthy… but tasty!) I ordered the chicken, shrimp and fish platter with hushpuppies and fries. I also ordered fried pickles and fried mushrooms. My sister ordered the steak, pepper and onions hoagie. Everything was wonderful. Service isn’t super fast but the owner/server/and cook is 84 years and does this all by herself. She is just precious ! The cooking/ordering area is actually a remodeled bus. The owner recently lost her husband but keeps running this restaurant all by herself. She’s amazing! Like I said, it’s not fancy but it’s a fun place and feels like down home. You have to try it!

No matter where you are or where you’re going, Shokey’s is probably a bit out of your way, but it’s well worth a detour. My dad and I stopped by for lunch yesterday, on a Saturday afternoon. They weren’t very busy, but the lady who runs the place is very sweet, and her food is amazing. We both got a pulled pork sandwich and an egg roll. Everything is homemade (including even the sandwich buns), everything is really good, and prices are more than reasonable. Probably the best egg roll I’ve ever had, and the BBQ put me in mind of those great little places scattered throughout the South. I can’t wait to go back and try something else, which I will be doing as soon as possible.

It was our first visit to Shokey’s. What a pleasant little place off the beaten path. Not hard to find at all. We arrived when she first opened so it wasn’t busy. We had the fish, shrimp and fries platter and egg rolls. The egg rolls are homemade and what they are known for and they were delicious. The platter was huge and enough for 2 ppl. They aren’t on Facebook only Google. She’s a sweet little lady doing it all herself. Show her some love if you stop by.

I’m sorry I have to post a bad review because I really wanted to be able to say great things about this place. I’ve been wanting to try it for such a long time and my sister even came up from WV just to go with me and have lunch. I do want to say that the lady cooking, (the owner) was a very sweet gal but that was a good as it gets. We love finding off the beaten path, quirky little places like this so the appearance was all the more intriguing but after ordering and having time to really see the place while we waited for our food it started making us a little nauseous, the flys were horrendous and there were fly strips hanging everywhere covered in dead flys, even right at the counter where you order. It was so disgusting, so I told her we had just decided to get our food to go because we were loosing our appetite quickly at that point. It took a very long time but our food was finally ready. We left and went down the road to pull off at a spot and eat our food only to find most of it unedible and burnt beyond acceptable limits, (As you can see in the pictures) We had already tossed most of it out the window before I decided to get some pics and post a review. I usually just let things like this go but she had to know how bad our food was when she put it in the To go boxes but yet still sold it to us at the tune of $40, so I’m a little upset about that. As you can see in the one picture it had even melted through the styrofoam box. We also got Philly cheese steak sandwiches which appeared to be ok but because of everything we had seen inside the place we couldn’t eat them for fear of possible fly contamination and unsanitary conditions. I hope the wildlife enjoyed them. We will not go back!

This place is very hidden and backwoods. It’s a food truck converted into a makeshift restaurant. I don’t guess I can really complain because once we walked in, I knew we should have left but didn’t because it was already 9 pm. There is a sweet cat that apparently lives indoors. You also need to be prepared to fight away many flies to be able to eat. The tables looked like they haven’t been cleaned in a while. I’m sure for locals this might be a little harsh, but I wouldn’t eat here ever again due to how unclean it is. In the 5th picture you’ll see the flies… and this was just at my table.

This little food place is the definition of don’t judge a book by its cover. Located out in the hills of amish country just off ST RT36 in Coshocton Ohio camouflaged as a typical country midwesterners farm HOWEVER once inside the friendly welcome from the owners and the aroma of ABSOLUTELY delicious BBQ you know your are in for a treat. The menu has great options and prices for the portions and wait time was minimal. The half rack rib special was amazing and the homemade fresh egg rolls are heavenly. 10 out of 10 take the time to visit it is CASH ONLY and they have limited stock on fresh BBQ so a call ahead would be smart.

Amazing hidden spot, shokeys is food with entertainment as he’s a great chat and the lady in the kitchen makes phenomenal food. Great price and totally worth the trip, planning to go back real soon.

Fantastic little out of the way diner! The food was great and the owner is the sweetest lady. What started out as just a road trip to try out a recommendation turned into an entire evening of great food and conversation. This place is a hidden gem! Some of the best food I’ve ever had! The special today was BBQ ribs and they were literally falling off the bone and delicious! Portions are perfect and prices were great! The French fries were the best I’ve ever had! And the egg roll was absolutely delightful! I will definitely be coming back! Please check this place out if you get the chance. The couple who owns this place are so nice and friendly also! 10/10
