Bar Castaneda a must-visit for anyone rolling through town looking for a superb meal.
Each time my family has been to dine, we have been met with a refreshed menu featuring a lovely selection suitable for any palate. Their entrées are always absolutely exquisite and perfectly made. The dessert menu is fantastic, and their ice cream is amazing.
This restaurant is easily the best in Las Vegas. Unlike other restaurants that value themselves as high class, the Castaneda is warm, welcoming, and kind to anyone who may be joining you for dinner–including children and your dog! (Outside of course.)

This place is all about the ambience and you can just feel the history in the building and the wonderful stories through time echoing in the walls. The food is some of the best in town and the drink selection is enormous. The staff are always very professional and with a smile. One of my favorite places to go sit and enjoy the setting the people and the wonderful food. But the history of the building is one of the most wonderful parts of the experience!

Go! Fantastic attentive service coupled with not-your-typical quality bar food makes this a rare gem in the mine of the Las Vegas/New Mexico food scene. The green chili burger is perfectly done on a bun that makes a difference! My wife’s shrimp and grits dish was the best shrimp she has ever tasted. And to end with the chocolate pots de creme…utterly divine and perfect. Thank you Bar Castaneda!

This is listed as a bar but it is much more than that. The Castaneda restaurant is open to the public and is one of the few upscale eateries in Las Vegas NM. The menu is very limited but gets it’s insperation from the original Harvey hotel menu from the 1880s. We enjoyed our meal and time together over dinner.

This place is amazing. Staff is super friendly. But the food, oh man, the food was fantastic! We ordered the chicken sandwich with fries and a green chile cheese burger with a house salad. They sound simple, but each item had amazing flavors that complimented each other. Everything was so light and tasty. Definitely have to stop here if you’re coming from out of town.

Wow – what a treasure! This is a must stop place when road tripping in New Mexico. The entire staff was warm and the food was very tasty, but the best part is the hotel itself. What an amazing historic landmark. I will absolutely be back!!!

My husband and I stopped for a drink while visiting family in Las Vegas NM. I had the Sangria and it was so refreshing on a hot day. Sam was tending bar while we were there and he was great. He provided some sight seeing tips for our stay. My husband tried a NM beer while at the bar that we then went to the hotel Bottle Shop and bought a six pack to take home with us. We are thinking of staying at the hotel next time we visit. Even with family local, it would be fun to stay in a historic hotel. We were impressed with the remodel. Stop by and see for yourself!

My parents and I were recommended the plaza but Castaneda was able to accommodate us. We had planned a dinner at the bar and it became more.
The food was awesome! Carne (can’t recall the 2nd word) fries was a massive appetizer. The smash burger, again salad and shrimp po boy were damn near perfect.
Manager Franciso gave us the history of the hotel for 15mins. He was friendly and knowledgeable. After dinner he opened up the bottle room for us and talked about local distilleries. Then he let us have a night cap at the bar.
This is an experience my family and I will remember and recommend. This is an experience of local flair and history.

The brussel spouts are amazing! I did try the fish and chips and they were also good.
