Update: went again…
Great place. Fun atmosphere. Husband and I shared Charola de Tacos. We chose carne Asada and chicken tacos. It was perfect for the price. I would recommend all carne Asada tacos as the chicken lacked flavor and salt. Otherwise hands down would get it again. Staff is always friendly and happy to accommodate. They start you with chips and salsa and some kind of white Mexican ranch dip. I have no idea why they do that here in VA. But it’s a thing. Ask for double salsa

Fantastic customer service, great atmosphere, food was good for VA (came from San Diego) I wouldn’t recommend the rolled tacos, guacamole is worth ordering and Papusas were filling. One was enough for me. Most importantly it was CLEAN. We’ll be back for happy hour.

We went for the first time today and I couldn’t wait to write a review. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful inside and totally different than any other. The colors and decorations are unique and beautiful. The food was fantastic and the salsa was the best. I’d highly recommend this restaurant!

Just went and checked this place out finally! We will be back for sure! The food/drinks are pricey but it was delicious. It’s got an upscale feeling with the cool decor inside. We had a California burrito and nachos. Both were delivered to the table rather quickly. Service was great and the tall manager was actively engaging with guests and making sure everything was running smoothly which I appreciated. This is a great addition to the Grassfield area!!

The new Taqueria La Patrona location is awesome! They’ve created a cool, open space that feels modern but still keeps that authentic Mexican vibe. The staff is always friendly and welcoming — I even recognized a few familiar faces from the first spot, which made it feel even more like home.
The food? Still just as incredible! I had tripas, lengua, and al pastor tacos, and every single one was packed with flavor. The hand-pressed tortilla option is a must, and the frijoles de la olla were absolutely perfect. Plus, the aguas frescas are the best way to cool off — fresh and super refreshing.
I’m so excited to have a new spot to hang out and eat some of the best tacos around. Definitely planning on coming back again (and again)!

Great looking place. Food is good but pricey. I loved the Burrito Loco I had twice. Second time was a little salty. Service needs to be worked on especially at the bar. The bartenders disappear and I notice employees eat at the bar which is a no no to me. There is an event room in the back and if not being used is where employees should eat. Otherwise they tend to congregate at a table which doesnt look good either. The food does take longer than expected. Everyone is nice though and still trying to find their way which is normal for a new place but I can see this place getting crowded and them being overwhelmed. I live around the corner in an adult community with 500 homes. We could give this place huge business if the service gets on track.

Nice atmosphere, good drinks and good service. The queso was about average for any Mexican style restaurant, though the salsa tasted like marinara sauce which could’ve been just our opinion. We ordered the Taco Salad and the Birria Chile Rellenos. We were enjoying our meals when we noticed that the beef in the Taco Salad was undercooked/raw. The manager tried to convince us that their steam table (I believe thats what he was saying) was the reason the meat was the color and consistency of raw beef and at that point I decided to still pay for our food and end our visit. The taco salad was taken off, however we won’t be visiting again. In my opinion the food lacked basic seasonings you would find in Mexican cuisine, for example, the Birria Chile Rellenos were cooked okay but the meat itself only had beef flavor but no flavors you would expect from a Mexican dish. The rice that came on the side was very similar to boxed stove top mexican rice. Overall this was a very poor experience for somewhere that is seemingly “elevated” based off the decor. The bill still came to be around 50 dollars for two people even after the taco salad was taken off.

So glad they chose to add this location in Grassfield. If you live in Grassfield you know there are not that many choices to eat out, this is a great addition to our neighborhood. The inside of the restaurant is beautiful and well thought out. The menu is the same great menu as their other locations. I used to drive 20-30mins to eat at this chain, rather than the ones closer to home, just for their authentic mexican dishes (yes the food is that good). The service here is top notch and the food is even better. They have only been open a week and I have already dined in or out 5 times, every single time the food was fresh and very flavorful. The create your own combo is very reasonably priced and that is my go to meal. In fact the whole menu is reasonably priced and I can see them really cornering the market with Mexican food in Grassfield. Please be patient as they are still training new staff and getting their feet wet here at this new location. Welcome to the neighborhood, I hope Grassfield treats you all well!

This restaurant has the most attentive staff, colorful decorations, and the best Mexican food! I had the birria bombs, a mango daiquiri and churros with ice cream for dessert! The vibes were awesome. Definitely recommend coming here. You can tell the cooks make these meals with love and rich flavor.

Absolutely beautiful place!! Service was ok but the food just didn’t have any taste. 4 of us at the table with all different things and none of us could taste anything! I would go back to sit at the stunning bar and have a few drinks but I won’t eat.
