Goodnight Kenny is one of Poughkeepsie’s go-to late-night hangouts, and it really thrives in that space. It stays open late, making it the perfect spot to wrap up an evening, meet up with friends after hours, or keep the night going when everywhere else has closed. The atmosphere is stylish, relaxed, and consistently inviting.
The drinks are solid and the bartenders keep things moving, but be prepared—they can be on the pricier side. One major downside is that there are no draft beers at all, which is definitely a letdown if you’re a fan of a good pour on tap. The food menu is limited and just okay, so it’s not a spot you come to for a full meal.
Still, the overall vibe, late-night availability, and well-made drinks make Goodnight Kenny a reliable place to end the night. If you’re looking for a chill, modern bar that’s open late and great for drinks with friends, it definitely delivers—just don’t expect drafts or a big food selection.

Just fabulous! Went here after visiting Vanderbilt mansion in Hyde park. Atmosphere is very friendly and drinks are crafted to perfection! Wonderful vibe; blessing and wishes for a successful business!

As a career Bartender I have never been more disrespected in my life. I don’t know how your bar is because security guards would not let me in. They said it’s because I didn’t have ID but they let my other friend in without ID. So for some reason I was discriminated on and mind you I’m 41 years old. I figured I wouldn’t spoil my friends time so I would wait outside while they grabbed a drink. Then they came out and had me get up so they could take all the outside seating inside. I’m honestly disappointed with how I was treated because I heard great things and would have loved to have sent my upscale clientele to your bar but I’m not sending them there to be disrespected like I was.

They gave us our first drinks pretty quickly and I will say, their whiskey shot and expresso martini were good, so we wanted to try more drinks mentioned in other reciews. But we never got a chance, because both bartenders forgot about us, choosing to be on their phone the entire time. This was around 8pm on a Saturday night and we were one of only 3 patrons.
Their “food” is just something they heat up in an oven and serve it at marked up prices.

Poughkeepsie really needed a cool bar like this. The old charm is still there but with a new fun vibe. JD made me a “good enough for Eleanor” cocktail and it’s my new favorite drink. Fun crowd, great staff.

So this review has been a long time coming.
To start off with, this is absolutely the *best* bar in Poughkeepsie if you’re looking for a post-undergrad crowd / grad school crowd and above. Educated people looking educated conversation. Hallelujah!
Super clean whenever I go – I love the art deco style decor and dark green paint. The disco ball in the back is a nice little cherry on top.
You walk in and immediately know you’ve made the right decision by avoiding Mahoney’s. The Derby is the same story. You know you can do better, and tonight, you did. Your conscience and your friends will thank you.
Every staff member and bartender I’ve spoken to here have been very kind.
My biggest issue would be how small the place is, but of course I’m not asking anybody to go bulldoze down some load bearing walls for my sake!
The crowd here from my experience is usually very nice and very aware of bar etiquette, which I love – people here will always give you an “excuse me” and “please” versus shoving by at other bars down the street. A++
Music choices here are 100% millennialcore and I love them for that. 2006-2015 always has a place at Goodnight Kenny. They also have a pretty heavy rotation of 70’s-80’s, which is great regardless of the day of the week.
Anyways, go here for sure. It’s a great time!

Goodnight Kenny is the best bar in town! The vibe is chill in the afternoon and ridiculously fun and naughty at night. The staff couldn’t be friendlier and Ben the Bartender makes THE BEST martinis. Make sure to try a Wiggle!
