Dan is passionate about coffee! I loved the Costa Rica Black Honey, beautifully roasted for a complex honey-fragranced nectar. Love seeing the red Dietrich roaster right in the store. Perfect coffee roaster café in downtown Louisville!

I love this place. As a high schooler it is nice to have a place that is affordable and fast. The environment is amazing, the owner is very nice and cares enough to know my order by heart. The coffee is amazing and it’s honestly an awesome place to go when I have the day off or just before school. Service is amazing, I recommend it to anyone in Louisville.

This is my favorite coffee shop in Louisville. Coffee is excellent. Usually quiet inside and rarely a big line. Costa Rican tarrazu is my favorite ground. I buy it for my French press in the mornings. Americanos are also a favorite here.

Went in to try some coffee. I spoke to the owner/roaster hoping to get a recommendation from someone with serious knowledge and experience. Instead I was met with condescension in response to literally everything I said or asked. He irritably emphasized his experience and skill, but was clearly unwilling to share any of it with a customer begging to buy his product. So I left.

This coffee shop is pretty neat, it’s in a bank. Only one employee was working when I was in, so service was a bit slow. Coffee was good and the atmosphere was pretty cool. Would go again

Our high hopes for a great coffee based on other google reviews were dashed by the lived experience. We ordered two flat whites and a cinnamon swirl. The flat whites were both too hot; tasted bitter and the milk was too hot with no micro-foam. Reading the other reviews I’ll give house espresso blend the benefit of the doubt and put it down to poor execution. But we won’t we returning to try again. Sadly the cinnamon roll was also dry so unable to salvage the experience.

Good coffee and quite tasty cinnamon, walnut, raisin swirl pastry. Less than 10 tables. Gluten free (GF) options.

What a fantastic find! I’m not typically impressed by coffee shops – this is an exception. Gio is located in the historic State Mercantile building downtown Louisville, and has a variety of coffee from around the world, the majority of which is organic. The Diedrich roaster is impressive to see in action. You won’t regret a visit!

I’ve been a regular customer at this cafe/ coffee shop (as well as other family members on a weekly basis), faithfully buying a pound of coffee to make espresso at home each week. It’s been a solid part of my coffee routine—until recently.

The last pound of beans I purchased had been roasted for far too long, resulting in a burnt, charred flavor that made my espresso taste like it had been brewed over a campfire gone wrong.
Figuring this was just a one-off mistake, I went back to let the owner know. Surely, I thought, they’d appreciate the feedback and make things right. But instead of an apology or acknowledgment of the issue, I got… nothing. I think my loyalty mattered as much as last weeks coffee grounds. No offer to replace the defective product, not even a token discount when I bought a fresh pound to replace the disaster they’d sold me.

This isn’t just about bad coffee—it’s about bad business. Mistakes happen, but how you handle them speaks volumes. And this place? They clearly have no interest in customer satisfaction, no desire to earn back trust, and no sense of loyalty to the regulars who keep their doors open.

I want to support local businesses, but it’s hard to root for a cafe that treats its customers like an afterthought. If you’re looking for great coffee and great service, you might need to keep looking.
