Old Fashioned and warm bread to start were fantastic. Chicken was delicious. Salad Bar was great! Staff was very friendly and personable. Cam made great recommendations and was wonderful. Despite how busy it was the limited staff handled it very well. We really enjoyed the comfortable atmosphere as well and the view of the water. We will definitely be back when we are in the area. Unfortunately I didn’t think to take photos of everything. I was too engrossed in the food.

Great food. Great service. Great drinks. This is a supper club, yes, but everything was a cut above your standard supper club fare. Our server, Taylor, offered excellent advice for drinks and dinner. My old fashioned was very nice. My dining companion asked for a gimlet that wasn’t very sweet, and it came out exactly how she wanted it. The chicken schnitzel had a nice smoky flavor, and the pot roast was tender and tasty. The Knotty Barrel will be my top choice the next time I’m back in Minocqua.

My family has been vacationing in Minocqua for over 30 years. We are always overjoyed when we see a new restaurant pop up in town. We spent our final night of the trip with two large tables at Knotty Barrel. The restaurant does a great spin on your classic north woods supper club. The cocktails were tasty, the cheese curds were great, we all enjoyed the salad bar and everyone loved their entrees. I’ll be thinking about that fish fry all summer! You should definitely get one of the classic ice cream drinks as well. There were a few issues with service/wait staff but that’s expected with a soft opening. Our experience overall was great and we look forward to dining in again next year.

We had such a great experience at The Knotty Barrel! The atmosphere was fun and welcoming, and the food and drinks were fantastic—but what really made the visit special was the outstanding service from Rick.
Rick was friendly, attentive, and made sure everything was perfect from start to finish. He had great recommendations and made us feel like valued guests the entire time. It’s rare to find someone who goes above and beyond with such genuine hospitality, but Rick absolutely did.
We’ll definitely be back soon—and will be asking for Rick again!

This was a difficult place to rate as there’s tons of potential and the effort and environment are easily 5 star. The food has a little ways to go to match the rest of the establishment but I think they’ll get there.
Pros:
* Service and seating were excellent.
* Super cool bar, building and atmosphere. Loved the decor and outside seating.
* Limited menu with good options for most tastes.
* Portions were perfect and left room for dessert.
* Speed was on point. Enough time to enjoy apps or salad and food came out quickly after.
* Bar and staff were top notch. Drinks were excellent. We didn’t order one, but the ice cream drinks looked phenomenal and big enough to serve four people. Never seen an ice cream drink that looked like it just came out of an old fashioned malt shop.
* Good selection at salad bar.
* Our dinners were cooked correctly and well temped.
Cons: (being picky)
* Salad bar hood is so low you have to duck and reach to get anything from back row. Lady in front of us had to hold her necklace so it didn’t drop into the dressing. Was a little funny.
* A few of the salad bar offerings were either gone or too low to grab. They did quickly replenish the lettuce when asked.
* Ordered the chicken piccata and blackened salmon. Both dishes were just ok. The chicken piccata was pretty bland and could use some seasoning but the frustrating part was none of the linguine noodles were longer than 3 or 4 inches so it was impossible to twirl and difficult to keep on fork lol. Lots of sauce left on the plate that could have been enjoyed with a baguette addition. Pasta and chicken were cooked well. Blackened salmon dish could have been excellent but there was little to no blackening and very little seasoning. The sauce and couscous were excellent.
We’ll definitely stop again as overall it was enjoyable and worth a visit.

We were able to get 4 seats at the Bar, which turned out to be our good fortune! Bartender Jay was personable and funny! He also made cocktails with speed and skill! It was prime rib night so I went with queen cut , managed to eat half and it was delicious! Soup and salad bar was a nice surprise and very good too! With a smile and a description of their many ice cream drinks, we had to try one.
Watching him make up his concoction was half the fun and we did not leave a drop!!

Might be a little cool out now, but you have to check out their Minocqua / Kawaga Lakes Association / Lake Minocqua access via their new / safe pier system – creating another outstanding dining option by “land or sea”

The food was excellent! The Maryland style crab cakes were the best we’ve ever tasted. The warm bread service was also delicious. For dessert, we enjoyed the chocolate fondant cake. Highly recommend!

This is the first time we’ve eaten at Knotty Barrel and both service and food was exceptional. Cameron “Cam” the supervisor was very cordial and freindly. His attentiveness to make you feel welcomed was warm and genuine. Emma the hostess was just as pleasant as could be. It was also so refreshing to have had a dining experience that wasn’t hurried or rushed.
We will definitely be back, and we highly recommend Knotty Barrel for a place to go to enjoy great food and relax. Thank you Cam for making us feel welcomed.
