So happy they opened a location here. The staff was welcome and friendly. Location is clean and the veggies toppings were fresh. Their bagels never disappoint. Today was salt bagel, cream cheese with arugula, sprouts and cucumber.

Let me start with the bad and then read the rest for the good review. Basically the main problem is that it is very expensive. $11 for a breakfast sandwich is highly overpriced, especially when comparing that you can go basically down the road to Burger King or to a nearby McDonald’s and get three to four sandwiches for that same $11. Not that the quality would be the same, but we’re just talking about pricing. It’s hard to justify spending $11 for a breakfast sandwich.
But the food was delicious. I got a bagel sandwich and it was the everything bagel which was nice and delicious. A little bit crispy on the outside. Nice and fluffy on the inside. Really the bagel is superb. My friend got the breakfast bowl and it was very appetizing to look at especially he said he enjoyed it too.
Coffee was the same as you’d expect from any local Cafe. I got a 12 oz ice mocha which came out to be about $7 just for that. Again, it’s hard to justify those prices, but considering this is a small private owned business and not a chain, it kind of makes sense. I’m not sure if this coffee was truly that much more exceptional than any other fast food place or even like a Starbucks or Dutch Bros which would have been the same price if not cheaper.
As you can see from the videos and the pictures, the atmosphere here is nice and friendly. Lots of places to sit and when we came early morning there was no one else so there was no wait time for anything.
I don’t know that I will be returning simply because it was expensive but as far as quality and taste and maybe a very infrequently rare occasion to stop by say once every 6 months it makes it fine.

We came in to just get an everything bagel with chive to go. It took a bit to get the bagel, but once we got it, it was worth the wait. Im glad that they did open a location on the westside. The interior is pretty spacious as well.

When I lived in Portland, I would frequent several of their locations, but I was so happy to find this closer to home. It’s just as delicious! The inside was very clean and the employees were friendly. I got the “Uncle Sal,” which was a lox bagel sandwich, and it was AMAZING. I was a combination of a few of my favorite things—sourdough, bread (in a bagel form), and smoked salmon! The bagel was stacked perfectly and piled HIGH. I will be coming back.

I was excited to learn that Spielman Bagels had opened a shop in the old Jim & Patty’s coffee house in Beaverton. Bagels are a staple in my diet and Beaverton lacks much bagel variety. Spielman is true to the NY bagel art form with a very dense doughy inside, leathery outside and a slight sweetness. I found the sourdough taste to be very muted.
My family enjoyed a dozen and everyone found them to be refreshing different from the offerings we typically have from Beaverton purveyors. They also offer the elusive pumpernickel bagel.

No need to look further, the best bagels in PDX have expanded to Beaverton! The selection is just as amazing as the SE Division location, but with PIG NEWTONS (Jim & Patty’s Coffee People RIP). Highly recommend the breakfast bagels sandwiches with Lox, and the Water Avenue espresso. I’m so happy

As someone who mourned the loss of Jim & Patty’s (the previous occupant of the space), and a NY Jew, I was delighted to discover that my breakfast lived up to its hype. The staff was super friendly and brought out the hot sandwich first which was appreciated. Fun original art on the walls. I have two suggestions: One is to mark the door by the blackboard as the entrance and maybe a “please use other door” on the other one to smooth out the customer flow. Also, I would hang a banner up saying “We have the Pig Newton!“ and your business will double. 🙂

I got the Wilamete sandwich (turkey, arugala, mama’s hit peppers, garlic spread) on a cheese bagel and would definitely come back for that. The chai was a bit sweet (I prefer a spicier one) but that’s just a preference. It is a bit weird seeing the space in mostly black and white after how colorful Jim and Patty’s was, but they still serve pig newtons which was a surprise! We also grabbed a half dozen bagels for home. Nice to have a good option for real bagels in Beaverton.

I popped in during a commute not really knowing what to expect, just wanted some breakfast. I loved the vibes here! Everyone was very friendly, welcoming, and accommodating. There was a miscommunication in my coffee order (not a complaint, it happens since we were discussing all the flavors) and the barista noticed and took extra effort to find me and make sure the flavors were correct. They were also able to accommodate my no-pork dietary needs which has been pretty uncommon at most breakfast places I’ve seen in this region. I also loved seeing so much art displayed! If this were my usual route I’d definitely be here more often

Stick with a bagel order! I would not recommend anything else. We ordered 2 pancakes, 1 egg and 2 strips of bacon breakfasts. The vegan pancakes were thin, rubbery, and tasteless. The bacon was burnt and my scrambled egg was not well mixed before it was cooked. The yolk in the over medium egg was hard We ordered 1 americano. Total price before tip, $30.00. I rarely post complaints. But these meals were so disappointing and expensive I felt compelled to share this review with you.
