The entire menu is crafted with care and attention, rotating to highlight seasonal produce. Currently they have a roasted chicken thigh with chili garlic Brussels over kabocha squash puree, and it’s absolutely divine.
The hospitality, too, is stellar— Cam and Wami helped us on my most recent visit and provided such exceptional service. ITP folk, I promise you it’s worth the drive. Cannot recommend this spot highly enough!
This is located in a new strip center which includes the Doraville library and City Hall
The restaurant is not large, but attractive, clean and organized
I wanted to order the kimchi fried rice, but it’s only available for dinner so I ordered the kimchi cheese sandwich which came with a small side of spicy tomato soup. Both were quite good.
My guest ordered an avocado toast entrée, and added bacon. She said it was good, but not great
The the only napkins that I could find were very small beverage napkins. If you were ordering a $15 entrée, I would think that a regular sized napkin would be more appropriate.
Restroom was clean and organized
The back end of the restaurant was filled with folks online
No beer or wine at lunchtime, but it is offered at dinner
Would I go back: I like the place and would try it again at dinner time
We sampled several dishes and were impressed across the board. The Cheesy Kimchi Fried Rice was an absolute standout, rich, comforting, and packed with umami. The spicy mayo and gochujang elevated the dish, while the mozzarella added just the right amount of creamy balance. We added bulgogi to ours, which brought a savory, slightly sweet element that tied everything together beautifully.
The Bibimbap was fresh and vibrant, with crisp vegetables, tangy pickles, and a satisfying gochujang kick. It is a perfect option for anyone who loves customizable, flavor-packed bowls.
For appetizers, the Beef Mandu (housemade) hit the mark with tender, flavorful filling and perfectly crisp edges. We also could not resist their take on the McRib, which was a fun, elevated twist on a nostalgic favorite, smoky, tangy, and indulgent.
Minhwa Spirits is not just a place to grab a bite; it is an experience. From the thoughtful sourcing of ingredients like their Korean yeast to the bold, creative menu items, every detail reflects care and craftsmanship. Whether you are there for a cocktail or a full meal, you will leave already planning your next visit.
The space itself is gorgeous: modern-Asian decor with bold, rad art adorning the walls. It’s stylish without trying too hard, and the atmosphere adds so much to the dining experience.
The food is always fantastic and I love that the menu always has something new and creative to try. Some of the dishes I have had include the Korean fried chicken (KFC) sandwich, the Wagyu burger, a beautiful crispy chicken thigh over kabocha purée with fried garlic chili brussels, and “The Bird’s Nest” (shiso miso pesto, soba noodles, roasted mushrooms and leeks, topped with a perfectly gooey egg— YUMMMM). They always have a fun and unique salad option, this time I had a taste of the harvest salad, it was fresh and hit all the flavor notes. TBH, every single dish has been memorable.
Their cocktails are just as impressive they are light, fun, and beautifully balanced. They make their own soju and makgeolli, which is such a unique touch and really elevates the whole experience. I read that they recently won a prestigious award for their soju!!
This place delivers on every level: food, service, atmosphere, and creativity. Definitely a spot foodies will love and anyone looking to get their taste buds tickled. Easily one of my favorite spots in town. Highly recommend! Go support local/homegrown business!
Food:
The menu was small and pointed which I quite liked! Both my food and my man’s food was flavorful! I got the birds’s nest and he got the KFC sandwich. His sandwich a fries were so so so well seasoned and so good! My birds pasta was good too (it just came out like slightly cold. I would’ve wanted it to be hot.). Both flavorful and we were so hungry so we ate with zero complaints!
Drinks:
I got the yuza lemonade mocktail, he got the Georgia Beaches. They were both so good!!! I will definitely be back another day to order more drinks!!!
Service:
Our server was very attentive. He answered every question we had and the questions he didn’t know about he went to the back to ask the cook! Our food came out like 15 mins or so after we ordered and his sandwich was clearly still steamy as if it was jussst cooked fresh!
Ambiance:
The resturant itself is quaint, not many indoor seats! The design is very simple yet cool and modern!
Maybe they had a rough start (based on past reviews) but I had a good experience today!
The house rice lager had a great nose, was crisp and had a very clean finish. The strawberry makgeolli…just order it. Delicious!
Friendly customer service and excellent vibes at Minhwa Spirits. Parking is plentiful.
So glad to have discovered this Gem of Georgia.
5 stars!
I can confidently say I can review Minhwa with different perspectives, over the course of time, how they treat employees, customers, and my most recent experiences dining in.
Full disclosure – I’ve never been sponsored nor hosted here, just sharing my personal experiences.
The slew of one star reviews within one day by reviewers who haven’t written other reviews, versus rave reviews over the course of Minhwa’s existence, should make anyone skeptical of their intentions when they all felt so inclined to passionately share their “worst experience ever” (in more or less words).
Minhwa is a shared space that brings in pop ups, hosts community events, and has a killer beverage program serving award winning soju, makgeolli and cocktails.
Excluding my own pop up they hosted back in May (that would be pretty biased of me reviewing my own food but I will attest to my own treatment by the owners and staff below), my experiences with food from all the previous vendors and residencies have been enjoyable.
The service was always timely, and I never remembered waiting that long for food or drinks. Obviously, with some pop-ups catering to a line out the door into the parking lot, the wait is longer, as is the nature of pop ups. But for residencies there on a consistent basis, I’d say a 10-15 minute wait at worst, which is comparable, if not faster than other sit-down restaurants. The host always seated us promptly, and servers kind and efficient.
Maybe in a couple instances, they were being trained on a new menu from a new residency, and having experience on the other side of it, was understandable and not a deal breaker for me to even dock a star.
Which leads me to why I considered doing my own pop up there, after witnessing fellow vendors experience good outcomes being hosted there. I can attest to my own experiences working there – the owners Ming and James were always professional and kind, as were their entire staff helping bus tables, serve food, take orders, and wash dishes. We were in the weeds for a good 3-4 hours straight, and had it not been for all of them maintaining composure, helping us promptly get food out, we wouldn’t have been as successful as we were. Minhwa was a well oiled machine. I’ve worked in toxic kitchens before, where staff scream at each other, and owners belittle staff so it was a pleasant contrast here, and one of my best pop-ups.
Now to the current food from chef Lino. I’ve been there to eat dinner last month, and brunch on Sunday a couple weeks ago. Multiple dishes were shared among a group, everything came out timely. For dinner, we ordered more than half the menu. My favorites were the KFC wings, volcano shrimp poboy, and cheesy fried rice. KFC wings can be a bit on the sweeter side in ATL, and I appreciate Lino’s version being on the less sweet side. If eating with a large group, share a kettle of makgeolli (rice wine, and the strawberry flavor if they offer it). For brunch, I got the chicken and waffles. Being a full house, and sitting outside, the food still got out within 15 minutes or so. Contrary to a one star reviewer saying they’d rather eat at an IHOP, I would not prefer an IHOP over my experience. Or an IHOP ever. Brunch was solid, no notes.
As for my being a regular or knowing the owners/some staff, I can say I’ve been treated kindly and had great food and service dining in, even when I don’t see the owners or staff I recognize, which is around half the time.
I hope the weight of my words and experiences trump the skepticism the bad ones potentially cause, and help others share their honest opinions as well.
