Everything we had was delicious. It has deposed several other spots and now holds top position for fried green tomatoes for mom and the best fried catfish dad’s ever had. Shrimp and grits, Gumbo over grits with catfish, Catfish fillets, Meat lovers omelette, and the BLT were all hits and this place is now in our regular rotation list.
Prices are appropriate and you get plenty to eat. I think we’re all going to have a nap today after this. Definitely, give this place a go. We made reservations so didn’t have a wait but there were definitely people waiting to be seated after 1 pm still.
I had the Sunday Soul Special with Catfish (fried hard), Mac and cheese, Collard Greens and sweet potato cornbread. Very good! Mac and cheese can separate a good Soul food meal, and they stepped it up! 5/5
My wife had the chicken and sweet potato waffle. She said the chicken was juicy and good flavor. Waffle had flavor and wish it had more sweet potato flavor and a little more crispy.4/5
My son had the jerk chicken pasta. He said it was very good and spicy if you like jerk. 5/5
Wife and I shared a mimosa flight. All flavor where good. Pineapple, Cranberry, Orange and Strawberry!
We’ll go back!!
Our server, Brea, was one of the highlights of our dining experience. She was very busy with tables but still made the time to personalize our first experience and continued checking on us throughout our meal. The music was very loud, and at one point got even louder for some reason to the point we couldn’t hear each other talk across the table, but we asked our server to turn it down and she happily did so which helped.
The food was expensive, but good! We started with an order of beignets, which I highly recommend, and our table’s entrees included double stuffed oreo pancakes, turkey panini with fries, salmon eggs benefict with potatoes, and the breakfast tacos with sausage.
We overall enjoyed our experience at Toast It Iz!
Food was horrible. I initially ordered lamb chops and waffles. The lamb chops were sold out. Changed order to 5 wings, greens and Mac. Sold out of greens. So, I ordered the oxtails, grits and a bowl of gumbo
Oxtails were horrible, See pic below, (bones and fat meat)It was more like they got them from the bottom of the barrel. The gumbo was more like jambalaya, (a lot of rice) see pic.
The service, the waitress was rude. She basically told me to come early in the day, the food is better. she knew the food wasn’t tight.
We (friends) had reservations at 4pm Sunday.
I informed her of the dissatisfaction however she did not care. Never offered to replace my food.
Oh, the alcoholic drink, Old Fashioned was horrible. My friend girls and I ordered them and we all were dissatisfied. I spent $80 at this place. My table spent over $400. If you have a group, they will not split the checks. This was not told to us when reservations were made.
This was the worse service and food I’ve had in a very long time.
I can’t say enough good things about our experience. I can’t wait to come back!!!
Upon arrival for our 4:00 PM reservation, we were greeted and seated by Romeka, the manager on duty, who wore a green sweatshirt and had a silk press that evening. Despite being seated promptly, we waited 30 minutes before anyone attended our table. When Romeka returned, she awkwardly asked who had seated us, suggesting that person would lose their shift. We found this confusing as she had been the one to seat us. When we mentioned this, she became defensive, denied it was her, and walked away without resolving our concern.
This encounter was disappointing, as managers should be welcoming and address any issues with care. Unfortunately, Romeka’s response was quite the opposite, leaving us feeling uncomfortable. The excitement of trying a new establishment was overshadowed by this experience.
Fortunately, after a 40-minute wait, Alexeis stepped in graciously to serve our table, providing exceptional service and turning our experience around. If it were not for Alexeis, we would have considered leaving, akin to the neighboring table that also faced discourteous behavior from Romeka.
We attempted to express our concerns to another manager or the owner, who was said to be in the building, but no one responded to our request. It is disappointing when poor service from a high-ranking staff member undermines the otherwise superb quality of the food. We hope future guests have a smoother experience service-wise, as the cuisine is truly worth it.
Turn the music down!!!
I enjoyed my special birthday recognition during my meal. Thanks for allowing me to feel special while enjoying my delicious meal.
