The customer service is not great. But the food is great. Anytime I call one of 2 things happen. They pick up and wait for you to say something first and you have to ask is this the Jamaican place. Or they’ll just answer and say hello. No business etiquette at all. I’ve also said several times when calling a business I’d like to know I’m calling the business. You should say the business name when you answer. But the same thing still happens when I call. They have a nice seating area in the back to eat in. But I usually take out.

I had read several reviews on Jamaican restaurants in Utica. THE name Simma was mentioned twice in comparison to the restaurant being reviewed. IT was recommended over the reviewed one!! I decided to try the place. My gf and I went during the week. She had the jerk chicken, I had the ccurry chicken . You get a dish with the main entree and a generous portion of seasoned rice and steamed cabbage. It was enough to warrant a to go container. She had fresh baked coconut pound cake made with coconut water or milk. I normally can’t stand coconut, but the cake was flavored with just a hint of coconut. It was amazing! The owner a d hostess is a sweetheart and very proud of her cooking and the business. We talked as if we were old friends but had just met!! Ive been there 3 times so far. The interior is essentially concrete blocks painted green. I wouldn’t go there trying to impress your date!! However, the food is quality and quantity above the competition! There are certain restaurants that you know and rank them in comparison to a new place; becoming your own reference point! So far, Simma is my reference!!! Good luck and God bless!!!

Beyond the best experience in a small restaurant me and my friend’s have ever, me and my friends each got a plate but one didn’t because he wasn’t that hungry, seeing that we were sharing with him, the lady upfront out of the kindness of her heart brought him out a plate of food, the food was amazing and the service is unmatched, will defenitly be coming back and definitely recommended. Thank you so much simma!

Food is some what good, but the lady attitude will turn off any one. No customer service; No decency I have to wonder what she is doing back there with the food. Also I was charged twice on my card by this briefing lady

This local gem is some of best how Jamaican food I’ve had. The staff is super generous, friendly, and even gave one of our friends some food when he didn’t have no money for some. Would recommend the Jamaican jerk chicken

This is the best Jamaican restaurant in all of Utica— I’ve tried them all.
The taste is the best, the quality, the portions, and the price. The owner is kind and friendly; everyone in there gives great service. I love that they are always trying new things here and offering new foods; vegetarian options too. One of my favorites spots. I’ve gone here many times and they have never disappointed (that says a lot). Thank you.

The food is great. You get your money’s worth with the amount too. The atmosphere might be a little much for some people, but it is exactly what you’d expect from a Jamaican or Caribbean restaurant, complete with the music to go with it. I see everyone who is a regular says they are great people & im not disputing that, however… The customer service is lacking. I’ve ordered by phone a few times, even a year apart, & it’s been the same every time I’ve called the phone is answered with a “hello?”, as if I was calling someone’s house and not a restaurant, & I’ve had to awkwardly ask if this was actually the restaurant that I was calling. Then still no “how can I help you?”, none of that, just a “yes” & then still no help with ordering. Very off-putting & I can imagine they’ve probably lost a few customers right off the bat because of that. I know that it’s typically the owner’s son, but he’s not a child & that’s not an excuse. No how can I help you when I walk in the door either.
