I grew up in this area, and have been to this place many times over the years. This place used to be my all time favorite. I moved away for five years, and recently moved back. I was excited to finally go back to my favorite Chinese restaurant. Unfortunately, since I’ve moved back, the last couple of times I’ve gone, it’s clear that the quality has plummeted since. This review will include my most recent visits. I’ll start with the good. I really enjoyed the fried dumplings, and the crab Rangoon is also a good choice. I tried the chicken fried rice, and the rice was hard, and tasted stale like it had been sitting. My next time I went, I tried the chicken with broccoli. The sauce was very oily and had an undesirable taste to it. Usually the sauce is brown, but this sauce was clear and I think it literally might have just been oil and some seasonings. My most recent visit, I ordered the fried dumplings, white rice, and sesame chicken. The dumplings with actually pretty good. The rice was a little hard and not fluffy like it should be. The sesame chicken was awful. The chicken was saturated in a sauce that didn’t have much flavor, and it was also way overcooked, as each bite was like chewing gum. It was inedible, and I ended up just tossing it in the trash. I’m kind of sad. This place used to be top notch. I’m not sure if they got new owners, or what is happening. But the love isn’t put into the food anymore. And unfortunately, this was my last visit.

I have never posted a Google review because I have never had food that was so disgusting. If I could give a negative 1000 stars I would. I spent almost $30 for hard rice, grey pork, and chicken saturated in hot sauce. When I called the restaurant to fix my order ( I didn’t even want a refund) they refused. I have never had food that tasted this horrible. I honestly can’t believe they are open and operating with the quality of food they are servings

THE most disgusting Chinese food I’ve had. Orange chicken was swimming in liquid and not fresh and this was my lo mein. thick gummy noodles and chunks of grey meat with not a single veggie. I have to assume all of the reviews on here are fake bc I am not a picky eater but they were inedible. My eggrolls were some type of freezer burnt? Idk. Never again.

I stopped at The Wok Chinese Express during a recent trip, and it was a delightful surprise. Their crispy tofu was outstanding—perfectly cooked with a satisfying crunch on the outside and a soft, flavorful interior. The staff were polite, prompt, and very helpful, adding to the pleasant overall experience. Located just off the interstate, it’s a convenient place to pause for a meal on a long drive. I highly recommend The Wok Chinese Express and will definitely visit again.

It’s american Chinese food. I love it. They also have one of the big tables with the lazy Susan in the middle. Perfect for big family gatherings and you dont have to drive all the way to champaign for it.

I ordered a spicy garlic chicken with vegetables. It was so bland and tasteless. I hate giving bad reviews, but it was not good. Salt wouldn’t help, it just had no flavor. 2nd time that I’ve tried this place in 3 yrs. Like to support local, but probably won’t go back.

Love this place. The sweet and sour chicken is to die for. We go as a group of ladies on first Friday of the month. The owner works days and takes extra care of our group. She gives us hot tea. Puts it on the table for free. I get the large and have enough for 3 meals out of it.

I am adding to my review. The young lady taking orders is very sweet and kind. She has a wonderful memory and when I called back after placing my phone order as I forgot to leave my name, she knew who I was by my voice and remembered my husband and myself when we had eaten in the restaurant before. She is an asset to a great restaurant.

My husband and father-in-law recently picked up an order I placed over the phone at this location. My husband had ordered the crispy tofu which comes with a sauce. An employee brought it out to the car and handed in through the window to my husband. The sauce spilled during the hand off all over my husband’s hand. His hand was blistered by the sauce and he was in pain for several days. Shortly after my husband and father-in-law returned with the order I called and asked to speak with a manager. The manager told me the order was suppose to be hot “It’s not ice cream” she stated. I had only called because I wished for them to be aware of how hot they were sending things home so others would not be hurt. What if this had splashed into my husband’s face instead? The sauce is served in a thin plastic bowl with a lid on it. The sauce had escaped through a small hole in the lid. It’s a shame we won’t be able to go here again. I did not expect a refund/discount/etc. merely some sympathy and for them to be careful not to harm other customers.
