I placed a pickup order for two items. I put into the note CLEAR instructions for a gluten item to be separated from gluten free items. “Please place the croissant in a separate container. The eggs and ham need to be gluten free due to celiac’s disease. Please no cross contamination 🙂 .”
When picking the item up the waitress reassured me that the croissant was separate from the eggs. Should have checked then and there —because the meal was made as a croissant sandwich— which is NOT gluten free. When returning back to the cafe the owner was helpful, apologetic, and kind. The employee, not so much. When the owner asked her about the note she said “oh, that’s what that means.” Not a single ounce of sympathy can from this waitress.
I find it very careless that the waitress and the cook ignored the nicely written note that stated an ALLERGY.
I think that ALL employees need to be trained better on common food allergies and how to prevent contamination. In addition to not blatantly lying to costumers faces when directly asked about said note & allergy.
Thank you once again to the owner who took responsibility, apologized, and rectified the issue. I was and am disappointed in the staff.
The above is in stark contrast to their food. They need to revamp their food if it’s going to be a selling point or if they’re going to sell it at the price point that they are currently going for. The egg casserole is north of $7 and the portion of the actual casserole was the size of my Mazda key fob. The hash brown was north of $2 and it was soggy and stale. The NY style bagel was so stale I barely made it through it.
I want this place to succeed, but I have to be honest about the food if they’re going to have a chance at improving.
The food on the other hand was awful. I had a croissant breakfast sandwich with chicken, and it almost seemed like the eggs were overheated, and the chicken was underheated. The end result was a dry, disgusting meal.
It is such a cute coffee shop and the girl that helped us was very kind! We ordered Acai bowls and they were good!
