To start, the birria ramen was great! Please only get if you like spicy food, though. Our only complaint was the noodles… they were sticky and came in a container outside of the brother and wouldn’t fall apart in the broth. 6/10.
The soy garlic gyoza was hands down the best gyoza I have ever had. Perfectly crispy, sweet, and savory. Packed with flavor! 10/10.
Parking is hard to find to visit this wonderful place, but if you can find a spot, you won’t be disappointed with the service, atmosphere, or food. I would definitely recommend Kawa to all.
Please note: my ramen photos shown don’t have all the broth in the bowl yet – it comes with a good amount 🙂
The atmosphere is sophisticated and friendly. Plenty of seating and usually no wait. I would say this place has the best sushi in Grand Rapids!
We also ordered a miso salmon, my family member took a bite and couldn’t stomach it since it tasted bland and was burned/ overcooked (not just crispy skin)- when we let our waitress know the flavor was off she insisted that we didnt know what Miso salmon is supposed to taste like when we said it was ok we didnt want to reorder anything and can she please take it from the table, her response was “well I cant remove it from your bill”. Which wasn’t even what we asked for and it sounded condescending, she never apologized for the issues that happened.
Our waitress only spoke to my side of the table for the majority of the night and ignored my parents so we had to ask her to talk to them directly- it was very strange. There are better spots for sushi. Personally, I wont return.
Only thing to dock down is the horrible millennial music they play. Once it’s been good but it’s enough to drive me out of here and feel uncomfortable. Bad songs other than that pleasant environment. Please change we are more grown up than this headache music and deserve better
