Nice little low key spot by the water with traditional Mexican fare. The queso birria tacos are amazing and the best I’ve had on Oahu. It also comes with some consume for dipping or sipping! Highly recommend, will be back to try the rest of the menu soon.

I’m sorry to say the food and service here on a Saturday early evening was just plain AWFUL. Ordered a chicken quesadilla $18 a street chicken taco for $5 and fish tacos for $19. Soft drink dispenser was out of diet coke. It took about 15 minutes for the bland sparse and flat quesadilla to arrive, quite tasteless and unsatisfying. Cheese was barely melted and hardly any meat inside with no sides. It took another 21 minutes for the fish tacos to be delivered after having to ask about my meal twice. Something wrong was obviously was going on in the kitchen. The meat had a very fishy smell, texture was like rubber and tasted like chum. (CHUM: a type of food made from ground-up fish parts, used as bait to attract fish) Imagine someone giving you one large fish stick, microwaving it to death and then literally breaking it into many small pieces and spreading it out into three soft tacos. The tacos were mostly cabbage and radishes. I suspect they ran out of fish and instead of just saying so, they served subpar servings of whatever fish they could scrounge up. I’m sure the restaurant business, especially in Hawaii can be a challenge but serving this kind of food does their establishment no favors. The only good thing about the meal was the little fiery hot sauce they served with the food. I couldn’t wait to get out of the place and would never go back.

Here’s a picture of what you get fir $25.

Also, the things that make Mexican foid great – cheese, sour cream, guacamole, beans – were barely detectable. Cost cutting.

Just another Hawaiian overpriced tourist trap.

I’d rather go to Taco Bell.

A Mexican food gem in Hawaii Kai! We’ve passed by this spot so many times but never ventured in, and I’m so glad we finally gave it a shot! The carne asada tacos were delicious and the service was great. We will definitely be coming back! It was nice and quiet on a Sunday afternoon.

When I walked in on a Friday night it was mostly empty, big red flag I wish I didn’t ignore. You pay when you order because the food sucks and they probably wouldn’t make much if you had to pay after you ate. Paid for steak tacos only to find out 15 minutes later that they don’t have any and only an offer to sub something less instead. Bland. Taking a bite of their food reveals moderately different textures that all taste exactly the same. The only difference between their beans, rice, tacos, or chimichangas is that they chew differently. Salt is nonexistent there. Spices? What are those? The only redeeming thing was their chips and salsa 10/10. Everything else was literally a waste of money. Threw most of it away it was so bad. Absolutely worst Mexican restaurant I’ve ever been to, won’t ever go back. Save your money and don’t go!

Food was fresh and hot. Had the chimichanga which the steak had some tough and chewy pieces of meat. The taco plate was great. There was a soda fountain dispenser but it was not offended as a option as a drink.

I was super excited to see a new Mexican place in Koko Marina. I am half-Mexican and Mexican food is my favorite! But as most know, really good Mexican food is not easy to find here on Oahu… and unfortunately, this place is just average.
Don’t get me wrong, the food tasted good, just not great. We ordered a carne asada chimichanga, a carnitas torta, and the birria tacos. The carne asada chimichanga was very average, kinda small, and the asada was a little bland. The carnitas torta tasted good, but they forgot the tomatoes AND avocado. The birria tacos were good, they were small but had a decent amount of meat. The consumme was a little watered down tasting though. I think it is overpriced for what you get too. The prices are around $18+ and none of the dishes come with any sides, no chips or rice and beans. The biggest issue I have is the lack of salsas and that they do not offer it for free. Well, for all the items we ordered we got ONE free thimble-sized container of salsa. I had to pay a $1.50 for an extra THIMBLE-SIZED container of salsa. I didn’t even know they charged me until I got the receipt. I mean it’s Mexican food! Most Mexican food places on the mainland have salsa bars with a variety of salsas and condiments (for free). Which ok, I get that everything is more expensive here but, at the very least, offer a few of the miniscule containers of salsas for free with each almost $20 meal! That doesn’t seem too much to ask.
Overall, I’m not sure if I’ll be back. It has potential…the food tasted good for the most part, but unfortunately, the small sizes and lack of included sides or salsa make the high prices really not worth it. Tio Burrito’s by Safeway is in the same price range but their chimichangas are giant and come with a small bag of chips and salsa.

Burrito is my husband’s favorite. Always compares to other places and keeps coming back to Clau and Chui’s. Cheese fries are loaded, tacos are great and food is authentic. Carnitas and asada are the fave. If you’re lucky enough and they’re available, get the tres leches!!!

My wife and I grew up in Texas, we are used to delicious Mexican food. We just moved to the island and were on the lookout for some tacos, we found this place and it is incredible! The staff treats you like family and the food is amazing and authentic. We had the asada and birria, fantastic. We will be back and will bring everyone we can.

Legit Mexican food in East Oahu! We went about 6pm on Valentine’s Day and were able to get in and out before it got crowded at 7 pm. Hubby got the special Chile Rojo and it was perfectly spiced – but could have used more than three of the soft tortillas that came with it. My Enchiladas Suizas plate was actually too much food, so I took half home. Enchiladas were filled with tender shredded chicken and the green crema sauce was just slightly spicy. Be sure to get the horchata!
