My husband and I have been wanting to try ilusión for months, and we finally chose tonight for our 22nd wedding anniversary—it was the perfect choice!
From the moment we walked in, we were transported. The restaurant has the feel of an upscale, magical lounge—the atmosphere is truly unique and immediately sets a special tone.
The service was magnificent across the board. The hostess, server, and our fantastic waitress, Kayla, were all exceptional. Kayla was perfectly attentive, always appearing exactly when we needed something without ever rushing or hovering.
The food itself was better than we could have expected, and the prices were surprisingly affordable for the quality of the experience. We indulged in a great selection.
We started with a Margarita and a Draft Dos Equis, followed by the appetizer:
* Carne Asada Nachos ($16) – Loaded with queso, perfectly cooked carne asada, pico, guacamole, crema mexicana, and queso fresco. A fantastic start!
For dinner, we enjoyed:
* Enchiladas ($10) – Two cheesy poblano enchiladas served with rice and frijoles pierces.
* Tinga Tostadas ($16) – Flavorful shredded chicken and onion in a smokey chipotle adobe, garnished with cabbage, crema, and avocado over crunchy blue corn tostadas.
Finally, we wrapped up the celebration with dessert and coffee:
* Churro French Toast ($14) – A phenomenal dessert made from a croissant, dusted in cinnamon and sugar, topped with house-made whipped cream and cajeta drizzle.
* Dessert Drinks – A Vanilla & Lavender Latte and a potent Mexican Espresso Martini.
ilusión delivered a perfect anniversary dinner. Excellent value, unforgettable atmosphere, and service that makes you feel taken care of. We will absolutely be returning!
Don’t order a Arnold Palmer, it’s horrible. I ordered a café de olla, I stirred the coffee and it bubbled up and spilled over the cup, so weird, so glad it happen with the waiter at the table so he saw what happened. He brought me another one.
My omelet came, I asked for Pico de gallo and ketchup, by the time he came back my food was lukewarm. My husband also ordered an omelet in addition to his shrimp and grits, however, he didn’t his omelet, the server seemed surprised, although we saw him write the order down. Also, they did not serve spoons. There was no salt or pepper on the table, waited another 5-7 minutes for someone to bring that. We were served sourdough toast and when we asked for jelly or jam, we were told they don’t serve those items. We had to ask another server for water as she was filling glasses at a table next to us.
We were charged for the Arnold Palmer that was sent back, they charged us extra for sourdough toast when it was included with the omelet. The hash browns were undercooked. Our server never came back after bringing the other omelet. I did get his name from the young lady that assisted us. His bame was Adu. We will not go back again.
There were only about five people in the restaurant, yet it still took 45 minutes for us to receive cold, tasteless food. I was also charged just to bring in a cake. I was told they would cut the cake and light a sparkler, but that never happened.
Brett good espresso martini.
Tried their Carne Asada taco even though I had already eaten elsewhere. Good flavor and love the crunchy cabbage topping. Two salsas came with it, a mild red and a spicier green.
Interesting Sunday brunch menu that seems to be popular.
Looking forward to coming back for a full review of their larger menu.
This place has a beautiful/ cute patio area, they had heaters so it was never cold during our evening party! Food was delicious!
We will definitely continue to have our annual Christmas party at ilusión restaurant!
The food was amazing. I ordered the Chicken Enchiladas Suizas, and they were full of flavor and perfectly cooked. My husband had the carne asada tacos and beef empanadas, and he couldn’t stop talking about how delicious they were. Everything tasted fresh and authentic.
Our waiter, Lalo, took great care of us and made sure we had everything we needed. The homemade chips and salsa are a must-try—we loved them so much we ordered another bowl!
They also have a beautiful patio with heaters and cute photo spots, which we’re excited to try next time. This is definitely a great place for a date night or a nice evening out. We will absolutely be back and highly recommend it to anyone who hasn’t tried it yet!
I’m not much of a mixed drink girl, but had to give in on trying one. I was recommended the ares drink and was impressed with the flavor, but you can never go wrong with a nice cold beer or a good whiskey on the rocks. We had the the loaded shrimp fries as an appetizer, and the Tacos Gobernador & the Tostadas de Atun as the main dish.
I really recommend you come and live the experience. I myself will surely be coming back soon.
