I ordered a hot cappuccino. I made it very clear what I wanted because I was speaking with someone that did not speak English as a first language. In fact I don’t think she speaks English at all.
I did not receive a cappuccino. I received a coffee. A black coffee. I looked at the receipt and saw that I was charged for a black coffee. I went back to the counter until another girl that I did not order black coffee. She argued with me and told me that I did. I told her that I never order black coffee from Dunkin’ Donuts. I always order a cappuccino. She told me to give her the card and she would give me a refund. I told her I paid with my phone.
She said she could only give me a refund with my card. I don’t have a card with me. I told her to just charge me the difference. She said I can’t do that. She said I have to charge you for a cappuccino and you’ll have to bring the card for the coffee refund.
I started raising my voice and she figured out how to do it. This was the second girl. The first one was so incompetent she just backed away from the cash register and watched. I’m not sure if she knew what was going on because she couldn’t understand the language. That is too bad.
It’s hard to have good customer service if you can’t communicate with the customer. I doubt there are many people that come into this location that don’t speak English.
The second girl finally gave me one of the worst cappuccinos I’ve ever had. It was like a cup of black coffee with foam on top.
As all of this was taking place, a line was growing and the guy behind me ended up getting the wrong order.
Then I went and looked at the reviews. This is definitely a pattern. This is not the fault of the people that are behind the counter. Because, since it’s a pattern, it is the fault of the people that own, license, and/or have ultimate management over this location.
Shame on Dunkin’ Donuts for allowing their operations to be run by incompetent individuals both in the front office and at the front counter.
I wish Dunkin better reflected high standards expected by the best of companies. Moreover, I’ve come to expect improvements in the customer service arena over the years, since so many companies now realize the importance of getting it right.
I spent many hours studying marketing during my undergraduate years; doing homework at the counter of a Dunkin’ Donuts in Tucson, Arizona.
Since those days I’ve spent years within the customer service space; involved in the development and assessment of skills, standards, and successes in the retail arena.
I recognize excellence when I see it. I did not see anything remotely related to excellence or care at this location today. Disappointing.
The plain bagel with cream cheese hardly had any cream cheese on it. And to add insult to injury, they couldn’t even put the top on it the right way
and the other bagel, despite it clearly saying no cheese, of course, had cheese on it.
And the guy making the sandwiches was so incredibly slow. there were only two people ahead of me, and I waited almost 15 minutes. I’m on my way out of town, and I’m on the turnpike, so I couldn’t just turn around and go back. so I’m going to let these sit in my car for the next few days, and I’m going to go in on my way home. Going back with spoiled, moldy food, seems inappropriate response to their level of service.
The way she spoke to me was unacceptable, and her assumption that I’m a repeat troublemaker was not only hurtful but also untrue. As a paying customer, I expect to be treated with respect and courtesy.
I hope Dunkin’ Donuts takes customer feedback seriously and takes necessary actions to address this issue. Managers like EMMY R can significantly impact the customer experience, and I hope steps are taken to ensure that customers are treated with the respect and professionalism they deserve.
