Cute ambiance here! My gfs and I came here recently on a Sunday evening while they had the cherry blossoms decor—we rented the Tea House Cabana-Style which fits up to 6 people, with a rental charge of $125 plus fees. The atmosphere is nice and the decor is cute! There is a small fire pit in our cabana as well, and a cute swing to sit on and take pictures. They had trash cans set up near each cabana so it got in the way of many of our swing photos (we eventually asked a staff to move it).

Food wise, the menu is limited and not many good options—just typically bar food, but reasonably priced. They do have a full bar so we were able to order cocktails off the menu. The cabana rental came with a complimentary bottle of rosé.

Viking Village a hidden gem with must see outdoor space. Fire pits are spaced out with ample heat and unique vibe. Service is attentive and food is emblematic of a renaissance fair – ambitious eaters should try their Turkey leg (pictured) and gravy! Pretzel was also a big hit along with their spiked apple cider!

I reserved a cabana for $89 for my boyfriend’s birthday due to enjoying my time here before.. I was so surprised that on arrival, I was met with a person who told me they had no record of my reservation, which was not true bc i booked this a month In advance and the manager later confirmed I do have a reservation and it took over 15 minutes for me to sit. But my night just got worse. The fireplace for the cabana was broken all over the restaurant, so we were cold the entire night with no fireplace, we were supposed to have a dedicated server & anytime i tried to get someone to help me they were rude & unable to assist. We couldn’t order any alcohol or drinks at our table . We had to walk all the way to the other side and BARGE into somebody else’s party just to order a drink at the bar , which was never supposed to happen bc I reserved a cabana and it came with a waitress . It was as just a terrible night , I was cold and discussing with management the entire time i was there & was told I was going to get a refund due to the terrible service they provided. However I had to dispute with my bank because they were unable to do it right the first time. Never booking here again.

I am giving three stars based on the vibe and ambiance of this establishment. It is absolutely beautiful–the setup is amazing! It is a really nice place and way to celebrate the cherry blossoms and catch a really cool outside vibe!

However, I was not impressed with the level of service that we received yesterday, nor was I impressed with the food itself. We sat down at 11:15am and our server did not come to our table for almost 30 minutes. We were so grateful that a few other servers stopped by to fix and move our umbrella because the sun was unkind (thank you ladies). Everyone was nice, but service was exceptionally slow.

When we place our orders, our food came out and everything we ordered was completely underwhelming. My black bean burger was…thick mush. My daughters chicken sandwich was a bunch of grey, white and brown colored chicken that seemed to come from different parts of the breast and my friends poke bowl was not great (see pictures). We did not finish our food and we decided not to order the bottomless because we just were not impressed from the start.

For those who have not visited, be aware that if you book a garden table you do not have backs to your seats and the table you eat on isn’t at the same level as your body. These are not necessarily cons, but just be mindful of the environment. I would say this place is probably best for drinks alone and not food.

Such a fantastic beer garden and event space in such a neat section of town. It’s very…urban around this spot. I like that kind of energy. Lots of businesses. Lots of bustling. Very anxiety inducing if you aren’t used to the big cities. We held a live pro wrestling show out of the events space. Tracy was our coordinator and was beyond accommodating to whatever we potentially were in need of. She and both bartenders John and Julian both were the friendliest and most calm bartenders ever! During the entirety of our event the outdoor seating/bar area stayed open and active! Some guest outside even came in to check our event out! So much life and fun was had by us all in The District that day. S/O GM Rob Baer as well for hooking us all up with a round…on the house!

Hook Hall is a beautiful place. I drove. Big mistake. I should have taken an Uber or Lyft. This establishment is located in a “neighborhood,” although on a main road, hence, the situation with the parking. Food was delicious as were the drinks. The Waiting Service was excellent.

My friends and I to watch a football game and have a few beers. The game was on one of the tvs down at an empty end of the bar. We got drinks and sat ourselves. We were quickly told to leave the seats because there was a drag brunch to happen the next day. We asked if they could put the game on the tvs in the area we were directed to, but after 30 mins of flipping through channels the staff told us we couldn’t watch it because they couldn’t find it. Overall, do not recommend. Go across the street to Midlands every time.

After a not so great encounter across the street, we moved our plans to Hook Hall last minute. Hopped on the waitlist, and received a text our table was ready about an hour later (we live in the neighborhood, so it wasn’t a problem to stop home). We sat at a picnic table near the bar, which allowed for quick service when we needed something. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable, and also attentive (this is hard to get in DC!). That made this experience at the aesthetic Viking Village enjoyable, and then our food & drinks made it even better. Our favorites were the Frosty Giant and the Winter Fries, and I’d definitely recommend the Spiked Apple Cider. If you like to sip drinks, get the Valhalla cocktail. The two hour table limit was more than enough, and I look forward to coming back! Will have to try the firepit next time.

I can’t give Hook Hall enough stars.! This venue was the absolute best for our wedding: the staff and bartenders were overly helpful and nice. The space was gorgeous and did not need much decorations. The outside space was decorated for Cherry Blossom and all of the guest raved about it. Meg is a rockstar and made wedding dreams come true.!
