We came here a couple of years ago on our last holiday here and we were looking forward to returning. But then I read some of the latest reviews and I was concerned the quality had gone downhill. I needn’t have worried. It’s just as good as ever. It’s pretty much perfect for us, a family of five. Good food at a good price. A number of the dishes were clearly home cooked and they were delicious.

What a brilliant Chinese restaurant. We received a very warm welcome from an amazing host, who turned out to be chef too!

The buffet worked so well, topped up as we went along, and despite us being the only people in.

Amazing food in lovely surroundings served with love.

Having read the reviews, we weren’t quite sure what to expect. However, the food hygiene rating was 5, so we thought that was promising. We have to say, the place was spotless, even the loos. It was a Monday evening and very busy. We ended up sharing a table with a couple of strangers. But we had a nice chat with them over dinner. It was a pleasant evening. Now to the food. It is served as a buffet, not table service, but that was what we expected. The selection was varied, tasty and freshly cooked. It was also restocked throughout our stay. We very much enjoyed what we ate. The drinks menu included cornish ales, which was good to see, and they were competatively priced. Some of the bad reviews imply the good ones are fake. I can assure you tjis is genuine and that although I have visited Bude many times before, this is my first visit to Wei Chung’s, and I have no relationship with the proprietor. This is a great little Chinese buffet, competatively priced, well prepared, and very clean. We will return.

As a regular visitor to Bude I had never tried this place. I like to try and support independent businesses where I can so I decided to give this place a go having walked past it numerous times over the years. This particular time I was there on my own and was really craving some Chinese food, and rather than ordering from the usual three Chinese takeaways I thought I’d go in and see if they could cater for a single customer. The lady that greeted me was at first somewhat surprised that I was there on my own, but quickly set up a table for me outside (there are no outside tables, but I appreciated the welcoming and extra effort). Unfortunately, that’s where the good experience stopped. The food was absolutely awful. Definitely not fresh ingredients. Definitely not authentic Chinese food. The chicken didn’t look or taste like chicken. The selection of the ‘buffet’ was tiny. It took a long time for anything to be topped up, and some of it was never topped up the whole time I was there. There appeared to be only one person doing the ‘cooking’ and he was definitely wasn’t Chinese. Cheap, bulk bought frozen ingredients for sure. It’s a shame to have to leave such a negative review because the the lady was sweet but I have to be honest. If you don’t care for quality then go scoff your face for £17.50 per head. Otherwise I honestly think you’d get better food from one of the takeaways.

We came for dinner as a family (of five) this evening. We were welcomed by a very lovely and smiley lady. We had our drinks order taken and then went to help ourselves to food. It was really tasty, hot and fresh. The children had about three plates each, I couldn’t get them to eat like that at home! The dessert was yummy too. We really enjoyed the food and the experience. Can’t wait to come back, thank you xxx

From start to finish, we we charmed by this lovely place. My daughter came here by chance a year ago and wanted to visit again as very impressed…I’m glad we did!
Wei, the owner, welcomed us, took our drink orders, served us, cooked all the food and ensured all guests were happy and catered for..so very admirable!
The food was home cooked with fresh ingredients…for example, delicious crunchy water chestnuts and fresh colourful broccoli and all for really exceptional value!
The atmosphere was welcoming and authentically decorated, spotlessly clean and Covid friendly.
I highly recommend this place for a visit..just bring a medal for Wei…she deserves it!!

Run by a fantastic friendly lady who does all the cooking herself. Freshly prepared Chinese food. It’s not the widest selection but very tasty food at a very reasonable price. Service was great. Drinks were very cheap. We really enjoyed our meal.

Do not go to this Chinese takeaway. The food is disgusting. Most of it is clearly cooked days in advance and kept on a hot plate until you order it. By the end of the meal, I felt so sick I couldn’t eat anymore, and a family member had to leave the table because of how awful it was. The noodles were dry and tasteless—basically just plain old super noodles, nothing special. On top of that, they initially tried to rip me off until I did the math myself. The woman working there was okay, but that’s the only positive. Overall, it’s a complete waste of £18 per person, and I would not recommend this place to anyone. Absolutely disgusting.

Sorry excuse for a Chinese restaurant. The buffet selection was very small considering the price and isn’t at all what I’d consider authentic Chinese food. We’d paid as much as another local tapas restaurant just a couple of days before and that food was far superior.
