The ambiance is 5 stars! Service was 5 stars but the food was disappointing. The crispy shiitake salad tasted burnt. The short ribs were not very tasty. The Brussels sprouts were good. The unagi was the worst I’ve had and tiny for $11 a piece. Overrated! $200 and I left hungry.

We flew to Lānaʻi from Oʻahu for a one-night getaway and had dinner at Nobu. The staff were absolutely wonderful—so kind and attentive—and the setting was gorgeous, making it feel like a really special date night.

The only reason I’m leaving this review is to warn others about the Banana Toban Yaki dessert. It was delicious, but it came out extremely hot, and we weren’t warned beforehand. My partner luckily took a small bite and was fine, but I wasn’t as lucky. I burned the entire inside of my mouth, and it was painful that night and into the next day, with peeling inside my mouth and on my tongue. (I included a photo of my burnt and peeling tongue, although not pretty, to help paint the picture of my experience so other guests can avoid harm from the high temperature dishes.)

It’s such a disappointing way to end an otherwise great dinner. I really hope the restaurant starts letting guests know about how hot the dessert is—it would easily prevent something like this from happening again.

Impeccable service and brilliant dishes! And the views weren’t so bad either Our server, Erika, was so sweet and thoughtful, and very efficient! Chef Tex is rocking the kitchen with such creative offerings using local ingredients I love visiting Nobu restaurants and trying their specials, as well as the Nobu classics Chef Tex’s specials were outstanding! Dreaming about visiting again soon

There’s an interesting experience in fine dining, one where you love the food, but everything is immediately colored and biased by the service falling beyond short of expectations. You may make a reservation and a restaurant is not prepared to seat you, but that can be quickly rectified. What cannot be as easily rectified is when you are asked to spend $600-$900 on a meal for two and your server cannot get the basic requests correct. Following that minor reservation issue, a decision may be made not to greet the table or provide menus for 10-15 minutes. This is still fine, but the experience now runs the risk of being unacceptable . When the table is finally greeted and menus are provided; asking only one member of the party their preference for water (still or sparkling) and if they would like lemon for limes seems like an avoidable mistake, but you would be wrong. The true avoidable mistake is doing that and for some reason providing limes, when lemons are requested and failing to notice that the limes are untouched for the following 2 hours. I could continue to regale the unfortunate reader of this review that I’d prefer not to write, but I won’t because the act of catharsis is now complete, but please god provide the cocktail menu you said you’d bring and of the first 4 times you come to the table instead of waiting for the 5th and especially don’t make the situation worse after you’re told that more food than cucumbers and sesame seeds should be provided in the first hour of a tasting menu.

Yours truly,
Someone who won’t go to this nobu again, which is really meaningless in the grand scheme of things.

Amazing service, and the best restaurant on the island for sure. It was frustrating dealing with other restaurants on the resort, but this place has high standards. I wouldn’t waste my time at the Italian place across the way but Nobu was perfect in comparison.

The food is delicious, as usual (Nobu fans will be happy).

The service is generally great. The bar service is much more casual and not as attentive as the table seating. Orders are coursed out nicely, so food comes out continuously and you’re never overwhelmed with too much at once.

The Teppanyaki Omakase and regular Omakase are both fantastic experiences!

The views of the bay and the hotel gardens are lovely.

Five star for the flavors, service and ambiance! Less than five stars for the very small amount of tasty food and the very high cost. Seems like they might have more repeat business if the cost equaled the quantity served. I would not be surprised to spend many hundreds of dollars for two persons to actually feel satisfied. It’s too bad because the small ‘snacks’ are incredibly delicious!
Make reservations, only open for dinner and bring a bank roll!
