The beverage Tropical Sips..made fresh everyday. So rich and so good. The food is everything. The shack sampler gives the best of everything. There is plantain in the jerk slider..my mind is officially blown. Your taste buds will dance for milk river pasta. Truly authentic jerk seasoned food feel that zing . My favorite are the corn fritters. My other special is the bread pudding . I hate pudding but this pudding with the brandy topping changed my mind. If you’re not a meatlover there’s a vegan delight which is a chef’s special. This place is a must try if you in the DMV area.

Friday was my first time trying the food at The Shell Shack. Customer Service was great and the venue appeared very clean. Their set up was like a small food court located at the lower level of an apartment complex.
However, I’m sorry to report I was very disappointed with the food. I ordered the appetizer sampler because everything looked so good. I received my hot and cold appetizers served together in a very light container ( a little bit of each item) costing $25.44. It was hard to enjoy. My food was meshed together in the small container. I’m not sure if this was the norm but I was very displeased.

I moved to Florida from Mississippi about a year ago. The one thing I notice was how hard it was to find good fried catfish. I went online and came across Shell Shack. I was skeptical at first because other places in Florida I went but the catfish was not good or the portions was not right.
Let me say this Shell Shack is the best place around if you want good seafood period. The price are great just like the food. I am from Mississippi and it felt like I was back home. I really enjoyed the food and the service. I mean BEST PLACE ever!! Also get this it was so much food that I could not finish. This place deserve a 10 stars rating that’s how good they are. Just so delicious!!!

I think the food is cooked to eat right then and there! Food was definitely cold by the time I got home!
The snapper was fried but not sauté like escovitch is supposed to be!
I think the prices are too high for the product received. But the customer service was great
I recommend shortening the menu, to focus on perfecting dishes and provide the freshest food (not frozen)

My first time visiting The Shell Shack Seafood was yesterday. I was able to order my food online and then I drove 45 minutes from where I was to get to the location only to be told I would have to wait an additional 45 minutes when I arrived because the kitchen was SWAMPED due to their recent feature on FOX 5 for DMV Black Restaurant Week! Luckily, I wasn’t super hungry and saw how hard everybody in the kitchen was working to get all of the orders out, so I waited patiently until they called my name. The staff was friendly and accommodating. I ordered the Shell Shack Sampler and the Fried Whiting Sandwich with corn fritters and fries. Both were delicious, especially the fish sandwich. I will be back in the future when the hype dies down a little bit.

This review is subject to change. However, at this point I give 1 stars. Spence the Owner and his Assistant Nicole were hired to cater a nearly 6 month in advanced event. I prepaid for the event upfront and in full. While Spence food is delicious. He and his assistant are oblivious to being consistent with customer service and presentation. My wife and I were utterly embarrassed as we felt bated and switched from a flawless 1st&2nd time event to the 3rd most recent event being a disaster in our home. From late arrival, no chinaware, no wine glasses, no candles. Our guests were asked to stand up and serve themselves!!!
Our guests were looking for seconds and they disappeared after we returned from our concert. As there was only enough for 2 people. And let’s be clear, I paid Spence $75 plus per plate per person. Me and my wife are about the most humble and generous people you could know. On the previous events we left more than a 40% gratuity. On this recent event we gifted Spence and his assistant with Christian clothing wear as a kind gesture prior to leaving to attend the concert and tried to overlook the flaws only to learn later, that my guests could not have second servings.
After the event our guests gave us feedback based on their observation. And we had no choice but to leave this review. I am happy to revise this review once I receive my partial refund for the service and shortage of food (desserts were fine). Lastly, the assistant had the audacity to text my wife at 7am in the morning while she was sleeping. The appropriateness would have been for him or his assistant to respond to my complaint directly vs engaging my wife. How Rude and Classless!!!! Frankly, I would have been pleased if Spence would have reached out man to man apologized and asked for a chance to make it right. Even a rain check do over , perhaps would be satisfying. So far, crickets! On to the next chef .

This was the absolute worse experience. I traveled over 30 minutes away after hearing about this business on FOX 5. I stood in line for almost 20 minutes just for a lady to shout out to the line that they are no longer taking orders because the kitchen is over whelmed. This announcement was made at 7:00 a whole hours before they close. The people in their were already waiting for almost 2 hours for their food. This was just an overall bad experience.

This place is a must do on any trip to the DMV area. They got seafood, pasta, caribbean and vegan cuisine. The Shack sampler is the best of everything. The Milk River pasta has such zest with jerk seasoning not just on the meat but in the Alfredo sauce. Omg the jerk slider has plaintain… if you go your mouth will thank you .

My experience was HORRIBLE. We drove 30 mins to try out the new spot. The online order option on the website was not working so we decided to drive the 30 mins and wait. I was told our food would be done in 45 mins. We were ok with that wait time. After waiting 40 minutes , I was told my food would be ANOTHER 30 minutes. I was offered a full refund. Waste of time and gas. Staff were nice but disappointing experience to say the least.

Great food, great service!!! Enjoyed the curried salmon, blackened salmon and jerk chicken sandwich. Well prepared and seasoned. The fried fritters were excellent. Can’t wait to eat there again.
