I came here for the first time. The parking lot only had one other vehicle in it and it was a small establishment. The employee who seated me, took my order and remained my server was friendly and respectful. The salsa and queso were great. I seen on the menu that they had a large selection of different quasadillas which I loved. I ended up ordering the texana quasadillas which had chicken, beef and shrimp. As soon as I got them, I opened them to look and it looked great and full of meat. However, as soon as I went to pick it up, it all fell apart! It then clicked to me that they used liquid cheese instead of shredded cheese so at this point, I had to roll them up like tacos and they were just super messy. The shrimp were also squishy. I was disappointed so ultimately ate the chips and dip and took the rest home for my dog.

I ordered the queso flaming. First of all it didn’t come with any veggies,then when I called and drove back they gave me a little container of greasy veggies and my old food back.. YUK!! When I got back home the queso was like concrete!! Will never go back!!! This is the 3rd time I have tried this place and 3 tries your out!!! Besides the diarrhea the whole next day!!! Do yourself a favor and stay away from this place!! It’s a shame because I can cook better Mexican at home or drive to Jasper for taco bell… They need a real chef!!!

El Flamingo is the place! I was waited on promptly. The salsa was very good along with the chips. Everything tasted fresh. The service is great, very welcoming. The waiter kept my tea filled. The tea is great, often times tea is watered down but it wasn’t here. I had the chicken breast. Everything tasted fresh and had a wonderful flavor. The chicken was grilled well and was tender. Very authentic Mexican cuisine. I am very pleased with the meal and it was very affordable. The portions are enough for two meals. I took home the rest. I wasn’t about to leave it behind. Newton is blessed to have such a great establishment!

When you walk into a Mexican restaurant and the condiments on the table are ketchup and Heinz 57, that’s not a good sign. Food was ok but a bit bland and not as warm as i expected.

Thursday lunch special was Chicken breast served with rice and refried beans. Chicken breast had onion, bell pepper, and diced tomato on top of the chicken and then covered in queso cheese. Yummy! This was a big lunch and it was very filling to a 6 ft guy. Chips and hot sauce was very good. They use real tomato, onion, and cilantro in their hot sauce. To top it off, the waitress offered a free cone of ice cream in Chocolate, Strawberry, or Vanilla. I got the Chocolate/Vanilla scoops because it was tough to pass up one for the other. The lunch special was $8.99. Wife and I ordered the same thing and yes…we would drop in again. Thanks El Flamingo for doing great with the lunch.
