Finally made it w the hubby for breakfast. The food did not disappoint! He had the machaca & loved it. I had the red chilaquiles (warning! They are SUPER HOT ) They were delicious but very hot. The cashier did tell me they were hot but I like spicy food but even for me they were hot However, I cleaned my plate. They were yummy!
For dessert (n to kill the spice lol) we ordered the fried plantain, also delish.
Homemade taste and good service. Will definitely come back soon for lunch/dinner to have their tacos!

Authentic, flavorful & fresh! I highly recommend Ama’s! Their food is excellent. I usually order a grilled shrimp taco and an asada taco. The grilled shrimp taco comes with grilled onions and peppers and melted cheese on it!
The restaurant always has on great Mexican music and the stylish decor feels like you’re eating in Mexico! Give this place a try and you’ll be back!

I felt like I was in Mexico! I got a carnitas torta, including beans, cheese, lettuce, guacamole, pico de gallo, as another reviewer said, OMG!
YES! Family owned, I met the owner and his sweet relative who gave me great service, thank you! The servings are very generous. I paid $12 for my meal.

I had the most delightful experience at this little gem of a Mexican restaurant! It has that perfect, hole-in-the-wall charm and a warm, family-friendly atmosphere. The chilaquiles verdes were absolutely delicious—full of flavor and perfectly balanced. And the plantains were the perfect sweet complement. It’s definitely a place to support and I can’t wait to go back. Five stars all the way!

Absolutely delicious and authentic home made food. The owners have worked in the resurant industry for years and came here from Mexico City. Family run, great service and fantastic food. A customer told me best tacos in town, while he ordered 5. He was shocked to learn they have only been there a year and said “Why am I just now finding this place, it is great!”

The best family made tacos in all of San Diego County. No exaggeration. The meats are so flavorful, the tacos come with a generous amount of guacamole, cilantro, onion, etc. Try them all, carne asada without all the fat like other famous SD taco stands throw at you, pastor, cabeza, carnitas, etc., worth the trip to El Cajon!

Honestly, I 100% recommend this place. The food is delicious and truly authentic Mexican. You feel at peace when you’re there, and even though it’s just two people running the restaurant, everything is extremely clean—inside, outside, and especially the bathroom, which is impressively spotless. With everything going on in the world, visiting this place feels like a breath of fresh air. Let’s support it so it can stay open for a long time.

Time for another Random taco shop. This one replaced another shop at this location and can easily be overlooked as another very popular taco shop really close. This spot is definitely worth it.
The food:
Their Gorditas are next level addiction quality and the Pambazo is something you just don’t get at other taco shops. The menu offere what you expect from a taco shop but also food you usually see at a Mexican restaurant.
The food is quality home style mexican/Hispanic cooking. This doesn’t feel like high volume taco shop. This feels like you came home and mom made you dinner.
Price: average pricing and average portion size, the value is the quality.
The Vibe: one of the closest to TJ/Mexico style location this side of the border. Lots of decoration, lots of culture amd backstory, I felt very comfortable there.
Staff: not so much of staff as family of the owners I would guess. The 2 kids working hard at the shop and taking pride in their business is not something you see I. Corporate America these days.
Location:
easily missed as it’s tucked away in a small business strip with a very narrow parking area. Easy enough to get in but a little complicated to get out of.
Wrap up: I will be back on the regular, I would bring a date here, I would bring family here. This is a small business I think was great and worthy of praise.
