My husband and I dined at La Cubana in Gladstone this evening and had an exceptional experience. We started with the cracklings as an appetizer, which were perfectly crispy and flavorful—a fantastic way to kick off the meal. For my main, I ordered the Cuban sandwich, and it was absolutely amazing, with perfectly balanced flavors and fresh ingredients. My husband had the Masitas de Puerco Frita, and he really enjoyed his meal, raving about the tender, well-seasoned pork. After visiting Miami last year the wife and I really wanted to find some good Cuban food here in KC. After reading some reviews and doing research we decided to try here first. The food was good and seemed pretty authentic. I had the ropa vieja with yucca fries and rice. The ropa vieja was a touch salty but good. Yucca fries looked and tasted like they were straight off the sysco truck. I don’t recommend these. Wife had the cuban sandwich and said I was good. We also had the empanadas. They were small, but had good flavor. The chicken was my favorite. Overall good, will probably be back to try something else.
Service was good. One waitress working on a Friday at noon. Order was correct and had no problems.

Great food, great service and at a great price! We went for happy hour to try the drinks and a Cubano and had a fantastic time. The margarita and gin mojito were both delicious, and very cheap!

La Cubana in Gladstone is an absolute delight! From the moment you walk in, you’re treated like familia. The customer service is top-notch—everyone is incredibly friendly, attentive, and happy to help you navigate their wonderful menu.
And the food? Absolutely fantastic. I had the grilled chicken, which was cooked to perfection (Cuban style)—a little bit of crispy and full of flavor, served with fluffy white rice and sweet plantains. We also tried the chicharrones with a tamal, and it was a flavor explosion! The pork was perfectly crispy, and the pickled onions on top were the perfect finishing touch. Everything tasted authentic and was clearly made with care.
They have a great selection of drinks, too. The cocktail menu has all the Cuban classics you could want, and the milkshakes are a delicious treat.

We started with cocktails and appetizers, and the empanadas (both chicken and beef) were fantastic. The papas rellenas (stuffed potatoes with beef) were also a standout — crispy on the outside and perfectly seasoned inside.
For our mains, we tried a variety of dishes:
• El Tropical – shredded beef with rice (my favorite of the night!)
• Sandwich Cubano – classic, flavorful, and perfectly pressed
• Tacos Cubanos – a delicious trio of tacos
• La Mojarra – whole fried tilapia, crispy and flavorful
• Plus a chicken and steak dish that was also great

The best local place to go for a Cuban sandwich. We had lunch there today and was really impressed with the flavor. The restaurant is very clean and comfortable with a fun atmosphere. Our waitress didn’t speak English very well which was a little disappointing because we had questions about their other dishes. Not to mention her perfume was quite strong but that’s my issue since I have asthma. Looking forward to going back and trying the paella.
