Established in 1991. Cafe Gecko opened in Addison in 1991 and closed its doors in November 2021 after its lease was not renewed. The closure came after 30 years of operation, and the founder, Dennis Dial, moved the business to downtown Plano to reopen. The new location at 1410 K Avenue continues the restaurant’s Caribbean-inspired food and atmosphere, including the original antique bar, bar top, metal ceiling panels, and tables. Mike and Carla Waddell now own Cafe Gecko Eastside, long-time restaurant/bar owners of Richardson Bar and Grill, and formerly The Endzone Sports Bar in Plano.

This is my favorite corner spot right by my house! I have enjoyed every visit since they have opened this location. The food is tasty, fair-priced, and well- proportioned. They have a great happy hour and a late night kitchen open until 2am every day. The entire staff is friendly, and knowledgeable in the menu items and drink specials. The new ownership has completely turned the downtown Plano location into a hidden gem. Big tv’s, touch tunes, golden tee, great food, great vibes, and quite frankly, it is a spot where you can wind down and feel comfortable. I fully recommend trying it out!

Always wanted to come here since I’ve heard so many good things. We came around lunch which was perfect since it tends to be crowded during the evenings. My friend wasn’t drinking due to cancer treatments so our server Jessica (who didn’t know this) served her plain water drink drink extra special with an umbrella and lime. This was so cute and thoughtful. We both ordered from the lunch menu where she had the Poblano Chicken and I had the Santiago Beef. Both were delicious and we couldn’t eat another bite. The atmosphere was great since it wasn’t crowded which made it perfect for conversation. There is a patio as well where you can catch the band playing or people watch. Will be coming back!!

Food was great server was great except server mixed up tabs server charged only one card then patron called and asked to credit the account manager asked if patron could text friend and have her Venmo them patron said well that puts me in an awkward position and why am I doing that when this is your mistake manager offered no resolution patron got nothing. I’m so glad we chose this place! We are visiting from San Antonio and they caught my attention because it was open late and I said any place that has a “sammich” on their menu is worth checking out. Great friendly service and atmosphere. Delicious food and homemade honey mustard was so good.

My favorite local bar!!! Krissy and Stacie are so sweet. The regulars there are so welcoming and friendly. And it being close by is a perk. Go here a couple times a week juat to unwind. Everything food wise so far has been amazing. Half price apps every day after 11 pm. Must check it out

Had a pretty bad experience here, the seats were dirty and covered in crumbs, our server ignored us for a while although the restaurant was pretty empty and hardly explained some pieces of the menu when asked, when the food came out it was pretty bad and inedible, with the exception of the nachos which were decent. Would avoid and I would not return. Unfortunate. Plenty of parking.
