I visited this restaurant with my husband on Friday for lunch and was thoroughly impressed. We have a deep love for Indian cuisine and are always eager to explore new Indian restaurants, food trucks, and various food spots across different cities. Jalsa has quickly become one of my favorite places we’ve ever dined at. We started with a few appetizers, including crispy Samosas filled with spiced potatoes and peas, a refreshing mango lassi, and for our main courses, we ordered flavorful Goat Biryani with fragrant basmati rice, spicy Chicken 65 coated in a crispy batter, and other delectable dishes.

Every single dish was expertly flavored with fresh spices and cooked to perfection, showcasing authentic tastes. We requested spice level 4 for each dish, and the descriptions were accurate, aligning with what was served.

This restaurant has earned a special place in our dining list, and we can’t wait to return!

Jalsa (New Ownership) ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Jalsa under new ownership is doing an amazing job. From the moment we walked in, we were warmly welcomed by a young lady with a friendly smile. The service throughout was excellent staff were kind, attentive, and very welcoming.
We were craving Indian food, and Jalsa truly delivered. They have a fabulous variety of dishes, and everything we ordered was fresh, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. We tried several different items, and each one impressed us.
As a lovely surprise, we were treated to a complimentary dessert. The Mango Lassi with coconut was outstandingeven though I forgot to take a picture ☺️.
Every penny spent here is completely worth it. Great food, great service, and a wonderful dining experience. Highly recommended!

Visited the newly opened Jalsa..
Ambience is wonderful, place is clean, service is pleasant. Food is tasty with a couple of new options like masala mac melt which is suitable for kids. Tried vindaloo, cheese dosa, paneer butter masala, paneer biryani..they were all tasty. Butter roti and vindaloo were exquisite and stand out!
Plenty of vegetarian/vegan options as well.

Will be visiting to try other items on the menu.

went to a new restaurant recently, and I ended up trying quite a few dishes. I started with the malai kofta, which was really creamy and smooth. The sauce had a nice flavor, not too spicy, and the kofta balls were soft and tasted fresh. It felt like a comforting dish, something you could enjoy slowly.

Then I tried the mutton biryani. The rice was fragrant, and the spices were well balanced. The mutton pieces were tender and cooked well, not chewy at all. Every bite had a good mix of flavor, and it felt like the kind of biryani you want to keep eating even when you’re full.

I also had the boneless chicken biryani, which was different but also very good. The chicken pieces were soft and juicy, and the spices were not too strong. It had a nice aroma, and the portion size was generous. If someone prefers milder biryani, this one would be a good choice.

For dessert, I ordered a vegan mango lassi. It was cold, refreshing, and had a natural mango taste. It wasn’t overly sweet, which I liked. It felt light and was a perfect way to finish the meal after eating so many rich dishes.

This was the first time I tried Indian food and the server was incredibly patient and kind. She gave some great recommendations that we went with and it was mind blowing good. The food came fast and was piping hot.

We had a ton of food for just 2 people and got to take a lot home. The cost vs the amount of food we got was really amazing. The environment was beautiful and calming. We cannot wait to go back.

Had a wonderful time here; definitely a great addition to Portland’s dining scene. The staff is very friendly, and they recommend and accommodate your dietary needs. The food is delicious and very fresh; please try the tandoori dishes, as they are made to order, unlike at other restaurants. Great ambiance. I enjoyed it with my family, but I will definitely come back with my friends too.
