I’ve been to Mercado LIC a number of times and this place is Phenomenal. The ambience, the food, the bar, the service has been top-notch. I have a very high standard for Italian food and Gino and his team beat it every time.
For the appetizer, try their meatballs or the goat cheese appetizer on focaccia. They’re spin on calamari is calamari and shrimp together!
If you’re a fan of chicken scarpariello Ask them to make it for you – you will be more than happy!
Also for dessert, try one of their chocolate martinis

Amazing Food and Wonderful Hospitality at Mercato LIC
My family and I stopped by Mercato LIC for lunch and were pleasantly surprised by how delicious everything was! The pizza was outstanding, and the Minestrone soup (soup of the day) was full of flavor. We also had a lovely conversation with the owner, Gino—such a kind and genuine person who clearly takes pride in using high-quality ingredients. The atmosphere is fantastic: a beautiful interior, a great terrace, and awnings for comfort on sunny days. We’re so glad we discovered this gem and will definitely be coming back soon!

I grew up Italian-American (my grandfather lived on Arthur Avenue) and this place has some of the best Italian food I’ve ever had in my life.
The staff is incredibly welcoming, and the owner went out of his way to make our engagement night special.
Don’t be fooled by 5-star reviews from clueless tourists who like Olive Garden…if you want to get authentic Italian food, talk to Italian people about where they go to eat.

I love love love coming to this perfect neighborhood Italian spot. I always come after getting my nails done next door! Everyone is so friendly. They always remember me and make it such a pleasant experience. They even remember and are so sweet to my dog when I sit outside with her in warmer weather. Not to mention that all the food and wine are to die for. I look forward to it always! I’ll miss it so much when I move later this year! I’ll have to come back whenever I’m back in nyc.

Pie looked great, taste and service was a whole different story. Myself and several of our co workers hit this spot earlier today in hopes of a nice company lunch. Upon my dismay we were introduced to an empty spot, which seemed overwhelmed at the presence of us. Timing for the pies was slow, but the issue that caught my attention was the lack of care when I voiced my concern that the prosciutto I was presented with was spoiled. I explained that it tasted metallic and pungent, even moving it off my pie, I still tasted it. My issue is, I didn’t want a refund — I just wanted the chef to know that there was a discrepancy future guests could avoid. Instead the server (thin tall and dark hair) rushed away and shoving a plate in my face explaining that him and the chef feel that “I am surly mistaken” and that I should eat another slice of prossuito. This doesn’t seem like a big deal… except for the fact that I am writing this from my office restroom chucking it up.

I’ve been living in New York for 3 years, and this is by far the best Italian restaurant I’ve ever been to. The food is absolutely delicious not salty at all, made with the freshest ingredients. As the dishes cooled, the flavors actually became even richer and more enjoyable. Truly unforgettable! I’ll definitely be coming back with my parents.

The Cesar salad was unique in that the Romaine is lightly grilled and so it adds a smoky flavor while the lettuce is still crisp. I loved it. We also ordered the octopus salad off their special which was also super good. It paired well with the red sauce, which kind of tasted like muhammara.
The mercato pizza came out super crisp, which is exactly how I like it. Fresh pizza tends to come out a bit soggy and I was pleasantly surprised to find that we didn’t have that problem here.
Overall, a great addition to the neighborhood and if you haven’t tried this place yet, it’s a no brainer.
