I contacted them about making a custom cake and they contacted me back in a timely manner and mentioned they were pretty full that day, but still took my custom cake order. The cake was absolutely beautiful and looked exactly like the picture I sent. It tasted just as good as it looked, and the amount of cake we got for the price was incredible I was thoroughly surprised how cheap it was compared to the quality of cake we received. I would recommend this place to anybody in the area looking for cake at their next event. Thank you so much Cake by the Lake!

I don’t even like sweets but the buttercream frosting was great. The variety of flavors were all good individually. Ryan was a good host and we are happy with how the tasting went. Will update when we go to pick up our cake for the cocktail party. Also, keep in mind to order with at least a few weeks notice. We hadn’t ordered a cake before, but they were gracious enough to take our order 14 days before the party.

I hate to leave a bad review but the owner did not respond to me re: our order. Ordered 3 dozen cupcakes and mentioned to the owner that the theme was “two peas in a pod.” The owner responded, sending a photo as a reference to what the cupcakes would look like (see screenshot with review) and we agreed on that. I picked up the cupcakes and was shocked, reminds me of something on the show Nailed It. Really disappointed because her cakes look very nice online, what we received was very unprofessional.

Ordered for the first time for an event on Saturday. Everyone that attended loved the macarons, and loved the cookies. The s’mores cookie was a hit and the white thick lemon flavored cookies. Everyone raved how these macarons were more flavorful and tasted better than Kelsey’s. I will definitely be placing another order for my next event!

The cake design was amazing. Five stars for the whole concept. The cake itself, for us had way too much frosting. I provided a picture for your own opinion. The cake was chocolate but in between was a thick layer of frosting. Unfortunately we ate the cake but left the rest. We would like to have had more cake. The cake was good, the icing no.

i think that the overall taste of the cake and frosting was great! we have used them a couple times but this last time i was not impressed by the art work or the cake. i asked for a specific design and was given frosting that was a blended rather than layers. in addition i ordered a cassata cake and there were no real strawberries in it. it was all strawberry gel. Their website has listed that it contains real strawberry’s. I did ask for a tall cake but i wanted the frosting like the two tier below. it is more blended than layered and straight. my husband picked up and didn’t know what i asked for. it ended up looking pretty but just was not what i had ordered. I understand accepting the cake but the no strawberries thing was extremely frustrating. i emailed them to ask if this was typical and had zero response. i don’t expect anything but an explanation and apology would have been nice. I would likely not order a cassata cake again

I called 4 days early to order my cake I sent an email with the inspo picture as well as called the store. A day before pickup I called to check on what time I could pick it up and they told me they had no record of my order. But they assured they would have the cake ready for pick up by the time I need it. The day comes it gets picked up. And it’s awful. The design was very rushed and the words were sloppy. A 5 year old could write the same. I called and asked if I could bring it up to have it fixed and all the designers had left for the day. They said the only thing they could do is refund me if I bring the cake back. Since it was a birthday party that wasn’t really an option. I’m incredibly disappointed with this bakery I don’t see my self ever coming back or recommending it to anyone in the future. I’ve included the inspiration picture for reference.

Unfortunately, I’m only going to be leaving Cakes by the Lake a 3 star review, and honestly I’m hesitant to even do that. At the consultation for my wedding cake, I was told to bring in any extra cake decor/toppers etc. at anytime and they will add them on. I did so, and the lady working told me to email them to let them know how I want some of the extras placed etc. since the one’s making the cake weren’t in the bakery when I returned to drop off the decor. So I sent them a very detailed email about the topper I left for the cake, along with two cute little beach chairs, and a message in a bottle that I made. I also asked if they could do a groom’s cake for us, and I left a topper for that as well. A week went by and I received no reply, so I sent a follow up email and no reply yet again. I called up there and again, the staff that I needed to speak to was not in. I finally received a call back and they claimed they never received my emails which I find very hard to believe. But with technology errors, I let it go. I resent my emails to them from another platform to ensure they know about the details of the groom’s cake and the extras… So come my wedding day, delivery time came and went with no cakes being delivered. Naturally, I started to stress. My mother called up to the shop and they notified her there was an issue with things, but they will be there soon. When they finally arrived at the venue and were setting up, I noticed my toppers/decor were not anywhere to be found! I asked them nicely where they were and they said they never received them! I told them they were at the bakery, I brought them up months prior! I was really losing my patience with them, but in the end they did end up going back to the bakery and finding the boxes. My wedding cake was beautiful which is why I’m adding two more stars to the review. The grooms cake was also good. But the lack of communication, unorganization, and the stress they caused unfortunately over shadowed that. I did not feel like my orders were a priority to them at all. This honestly just made me sad since I read great reviews about them. I really try though to be a fair person, so I will leave a photo of my wedding cake for you all to see. I will not be recommending them though to anyone in the future nor will I ever be ordering from them again.

The strawberry cake they made for our wedding was AMAZING! We showed them a picture of what we liked and they were able to recreate it perfectly. They were open to any and all ideas we had and just overall incredible. Thank you so much for adding to our special day!
