The couple times I have been, Mr Nigel has been very hospitable and present in his building. He introduced himself and I told him I remembered his restaurant on Ashley phosphate. I specifically remembered a food critique from a social media influencer who basically trashed Mr. Nigels livelihood. I feel it is important to speak the truth about Mr. Nigel and his food. I knew this was not my experience. I have never had a bad meal from Nigels or Nolas. All of this to say, whatever experience that influencer had, is not what i had. His food is amazing. I will continue to patronize his restaurant. Only request is to keep that cornbread in stock because BABYYYYYYY I COULD EAT THAT ALL DAY LONG. SLABS OF IT. Thank you Mr Nigel for greeting me, making sure I am taken care of and my food has always been A-1. I wish you much success and I’m glad youre super close to my house. What a great spot! They had a live band tonight. Thank you again to you and your staff my photos are of the loaded shrimp and grits. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Which has shrimp, crab, crawfish and 2 fried oysters with a bourbon butter sauce and i also got some red beans and rice. I ate the oysters right away and I don’t even LIKE oysters. But that flavor of the batter made them disappear quickly…lol..so one photo has the oysters and one doesn’t. I ate em . ANYTHING YOU GET IS GONNA HAVE FLAVOR! Just a local gal speaking my experience with some good soul food dishes. I had a fantastic meal tonight. Go check them out. They are worth a trip!

Food was amazing, service was amazing, even the customers at the bar were awesome! Highly highly recommend coming here! My husband and I went for our 5 year anniversary & it was a great choice. My husbands friend told him to come here and try it and we’re glad we did! Must go! 🙂

We arrived at 4:05pm and the door was locked, so we were going to go to Chilli’s, but right as we walked away the owner came and opened the door. She apologized that the doors weren’t opened on time and that she was running behind but seated us immediately. She gave us two cocktails on the house for the minor inconvenience. The customer service was superb, and it was definitely appreciated.

The drinks were really good and the food was even better. Those fried wings with the Nola sauce were really good. Had I known they were that good, I would have ordered my own so I didn’t have to share with my wife. The Jambalaya pasta was really good, the chicken in the pasta could have been seasoned a little better but it was still good. Same with the house Jambalaya. And the portions are HUGE!. Wish I had room for dessert because those beignets looked so good.

All in all, no complaints and the owner was extremely kind and welcoming and showed us some great customer service from beginning to end.

So today was my second time going to Nola’s and it has not disappointed. The first time I had the catfish and grits with crawfish gravy and this time I had the Nola’s loaded grits ! I also had a mango margarita and some type of rum punch ( can not remember the name ) . Great portions – the service AMAZING- the food was fresh hot and GOOOOOOOD. Both times I’ve gone have been during the weekday and the vibe was still great ( good music playing ). I can not wait to check it out on the weekend when they have djs/live music. Nola’s is becoming my new fav place in Charleston! If you in near or passing thru the Dorchester area – this is definitely a spot to add on your list !

We arrived noting the restaurant had no customers to our surprise. The owner immediately spoke with us and was very accommodating as we waited for our food to be prepared. I am not able to attest to the ambiance because we were the only customers initially.
We ordered jambalaya as well as chicken gumbo.
I was dismayed that the jambalaya had very little flavor at all! Sadly, our expectations were not exceeded. Although, the andouille sausage (which is crucial in jambalaya) was minimal and very thinly sliced there was an abundance of shrimp. I definitely expected better especially at the current price point.
The gumbo chicken was good. The banana bread pudding was good.
Overall, I would return to this restaurant to try something else on the menu (maybe something fried). Sorry, I cannot rate you 5 stars at this time.
Good luck with your endeavors!!

THE BEST PLACE FOR CREOLE AND SOUL FOOD HANDS DOWN. Just moved up here from FL and asked a friend of mine who lives here, “Where’s the best place for shrimp and grits?” To which he replied, “Nola’s hands down.” My parents were visiting and I wanted to take them to a REAL southern cooking restaurant and have never had shrimp and grits before. Coming from a Puerto Rican background, we are BIG on flavor and THEY. DIDN’T. MISS. I almost had to snap my mom out of it the way her soul almost left her body after taking that first bite of shrimp and grits. My dad had the jambalaya and almost started crying from how good it was. I had the seafood etouffee (pictured with a crawfish on top) and my boyfriend had the fried catfish with grits. Saying it was amazing was an understatement. The flavors were perfect and so nostalgic. I’m talking, having a bowl of whatever you choose on the menu (BC IT’S ALL GOOD) and curling up on the couch by a window while it’s raining and 45 degrees outside. We also had the beignets which were so flaky, delicious, and piping hot. They had a slight chew and you could tell they were freshly made. My dad and bf had the sweet tea which was freshly brewed and TRULY a landmark for the South. The state of SC should make Nigel’s iced tea the STATE DRINK for how delicious it was. The staff was amazing and constantly checking up on us and making us feel at home. Chef Nigel even asked how everything was and was the sweetest. Thank you Marva and Nigel for welcoming us to Charleston with such an amazing experience. We definitely will be coming back!

I’m here during dinner hours. Clean, friendly warm environment ordering a one of NOLA’S signature drinks, yummy, NOLA’S Hot Wings rub or sauce-love it, NOLA’S oysterRocketfeller is to die for.

I live music Friday and Saturday. Great place for all. Featuring Nigel from Nigel’s restaurant, and Rodney’s- (got to try) in the Charleston area. If you’re here. You have got to indulge in the cultures.

OMG! Never have I ever had food so good we ate from here 2 days in a row. I assumed the food would be good but not every single dish would be good. So good. If I could give 10 stars I most definitely would. Beignets, YES! Fish and cheesy grits with fries, YES! Oysters and bread, YES! Shrimp with mashed potatoes and collard greens, YES! And the shrimp gumbo, YES! Please try guys you won’t regret it.

I love Nola’s! Closest thing to experiencing New Orleans right here in Charleston! My favorite is the Nigel Chargrilled Oysters and of course the wings! Which is always my go too! The beignets are amazing and the rum punch is sooooo good!! I’m so excited about the other wing flavors that they’ve added especially the Geechee wings! I try to sample a little of everything on the menu whenever I go! I must say…they don’t ever disappoint! Love Nola’s
