In this country, French food is almost synonymous with haute cuisine, fancy food that’s wonderful but can also feel pretentious. This puts a mental barrier up for many, so they never bother to try the ultimate comfort food: “cuisine des terroirs” or “cuisine paysanne”; rustic, non-pretentious French food. This is the heart and soul of French cuisine, and if you want to try some, I can think of no better place than Corbeau.

There is little point in reviewing individual dishes since the menu changes every 6 weeks. We have been here twice and every dish has been innovative with a strong nod to classic French bistro fare. The French onion soup was among the best we’ve had and it was made with miso instead of beef stock, but retained the beefy flavor of a perfect French onion soup. Most French onions soups in this country are drowning in so much Gruyère or domestic Swiss that it overpowers everything else. Corbeau’s soup had just the perfect amount of Comté to complement the soup and then balanced with some brandy to cut the richness a bit. Every dish we enjoyed here was, like the French onion soup, a riff on a classic yet honoring the original and never sacrificing flavor.

Been in for drinks and was always impressed, but finally had an excuse to go in for dinner and was absolutely blown away. Charred broccolini, and onion soup were fantastic appetizers. Our mains; the burger, and scallops, were great as well. Blood orange creme brulee was a perfect ending.

Truly enjoyed our dinner here! Had the steak frites and half chicken, as well as the huckleberry polenta cake. Limited mocktail menu but plenty of great alcoholic options! Love the limited and very curated seasonal menu. Looking forward to seeing the options available during our next visit! Everything we ate was so fresh and flavorful. The ambience is very unique, dark, and moody, however the restaurant does get LOUD from customers conversing. We can’t wait to return!

This is the first time I’ve had such a terrible experience at a restaurant that I feel the need to leave a negative review. My son took me here for my birthday December 2025 and we were so excited. Appetizer choices were odd so we decided to split the “mashed potatoes”. I thought they would have some twist to make them an appetizer but no, they were a bowl of mashed potatoes with butter. I ordered a steak, medium rare. I got a plate with a steak lying on it. No sides, no garnish, nothing. It was cooked until there was no pink left and I left behind at least 4 chunks of gristle in my napkin. I’ve had much better steaks at Denny’s! The place was very busy for a Monday night and the acoustics made it really loud inside. The waitress stopped by a few times but not as many as I’m used to. I didn’t want my son to feel bad because he spent so much money but it was the worst restaurant experience I can remember ever having.

We had an amazing time here for dinner. The oysters were absolutely delicious, the Onion relish that was on top of them was fantastic. We really enjoyed the halibut and the steak fruits, but the chocolate tart at the end end of the meal was perfection. Highly recommend this place!

Had a wonderful dining experience at Corbeau. Our appetizer, entrees and dessert were terrific. Highly recommend the brussels and the frites. Service was impeccable, everyone was welcoming and you could tell they all enjoy working there. Great vibes all around. Can’t wait to dine again soon!

Food was very good, service was mixed. One very nice server, and one who seemed annoyed the whole time. But my biggest issue is that they pour a 3oz glass of wine for $15!!! Absolutely ridiculous. I would not eat there again unless it’s on a dry month. Waste of money. Shame on them for money grabbing so hard! I had one sip out of that glass!

Absolutely wonderful find in Tacoma. They make wonderful modern french cuisine with an American twist on it. I had the oysters and the market fish which, at the time (December of 2025) was halibut cheek, was really good. They seem to specialize in their “Frites” section which was also very good as I was told. Large selection of wines and drinks as well as “mocktails” to choose from. Would highly recommend stopping here for a nice dinner. Can get fairly loud inside is all.
