Pleasant patrons and staff, terrific smokey brisket, easy atmosphere with woodsy decor. Our group of 16 had our own small room. Worth the trip. I recommend the clam chowder and four bean salad.

Every bit of our first experience here was absolutely out of this world amazing!!! The food, staff, atmosphere music, in every aspect of a true down to earth grounded group of people that truly care! I’ve been to many places all over the world and this has to be the absolute best place I’ve been to in my life! I’m 46 and been everywhere! Please go visit and please try it! If you’re like me and expect food and service to be prioritized the these wonderful folks has you best interests in mind!! I can’t stress enough how amazing the whole experience was! EVERYONE! There makes you feel warm and welcoming! May GOD Bless this place abundantly!!! Love from some Louisiana folks being givin to the Californians!! Just One Opinion
We decided to try the Old 5 Mile House again after two previous visits that, if I am being honest, were not too great. This trip, the food seems to have improved somewhat, but it needs improvement in other areas. My wife got a salad with grilled chicken that she said was just “OK.” The salad wasn’t presented as anything other than a run-of-the-mill salad; nothing special. My daughter ordered a pulled pork sandwich which she really enjoyed. I ordered the Coyboy Burger and thought it was very good. My grandbaby got chicken strips, which she also enjoyed. The fries were very good, and I got an additional side of baked beans that were very tasty but seemed old and a little dry.
The waitress was not very attentive and seemed more interested in talking to guys at the bar than in checking how we were doing.
My main gripe is they charge a 3% credit card usage fee. If I had paid more attention to the bill, I would have subtracted the fee from the tip. My wife said it makes her not want to go back. We eat out often, and I can’t think of another place around here that charges to use a credit card. Our bill was over $100, so this isn’t pocket change you just have on hand.
The setting for this place is as good as it gets, especially in the summer or warm nights as you can sit outside in a park-like setting.
There are many, many good places to eat in the area and this place just hasn’t hit the mark yet.

Honestly, today my wife and I had the opportunity to visit this place, and all I can say is that everything was simply wonderful. From the very start, you’re greeted with a warm, family-like atmosphere. If you’re unsure about which beer to choose, the bartender, Evan, is happy to offer a sample of any beer they have. Our order was taken very quickly and prepared just as fast. We were also pleased to see that everything was very clean—from the tableware to the restroom, it was clear that cleanliness is a priority here.
There aren’t many places like this, and this is exactly the kind of spot you want to return to. Thank you so much for our enjoyable experience.

This place is fantastic. Perfect menu, excellent food, and the staff is over the top great. And the prices are reasonable ! There are not many restaurants that can pull all that off. We stop here for lunch or dinner every chance we get. And sometimes we make a special trip from Truckee just for lunch. We quit going here when the original 5-Mile house was sold. But now they are back baby.

This place is awesome! We always pass by this place on our way to North Lake Tahoe. Finally made the time to swing by and eat a meal. So glad we did. Our server Aline was the best! Very patient and on point as we had a large party of 10 people. I highly recommend the brisket. Super delicious. Good vibes and ambiance. The staff were all super friendly and welcoming. I’ll be returning again soon!

Nice spot along Hwy 20. We ate lunch outside on a Sunday in October and weather was perfect. We were waited seated and served quickly and wait staff were attentive. We were served one wrong item that we didn’t order- but our party was happy with it and all food delicious. Bathroom are clean and well maintained. Definitely going to come back and try other dishes.

I’m a self described BBQ snob and their Brisket was the best I have ever had from a restaurant! Delicious and great smoke flavor. Everyone loved everything that had especially the Mac and cheese! It was a hit. Great job 5 mile house!
