Yamato in Olney has such a welcoming vibe. The calm Japanese music, the smell of fresh food, and the way the staff hustle around make it feel like a close family business. The food takes a bit longer, but that’s because it’s made fresh, and you can really taste the quality. As an Asian, I really appreciate the authenticity and care they put into everything. It’s one of those spots that feels personal — like they cook with heart, not just for business.

We got the salmon lover roll and the Hibach lobstertail, steak combo, substituting rice for lo main. Everything was delicious, and the price value for what you get is insanely good. Our grand total was $48 before tip (the lobster drove the price up, but an absolute bargain considering the normal price of lobster). The atmosphere was nice. It was quiet while we ate; it was a little after 5pm on a Sunday. The waiter was attentive, and the chef seemed to be very detailed with their cuts and designs. 10/10 will be back.

We have never tried it before but love sushi and hibachi and wanted to try something new. Sadly, we were very disappointed. Sushi rolls were bland, the rice from the habachi tasted old and lacked flavor, and the crab rangoons had practically nothing inside. Definitely not worth the money.

Absolutely first class food, especially for a small town!
Steak in the bento box was very tender and well flavored; slightly over cooked… server should have asked how we wanted it cooked.

Advertised as NEW Yamato with new menu. Items are mostly the same, but menu format is different. We started with the tempura sweet potatoes. So good! Tempura was perfectly done and the sauce served with it was delicious. I had chicken Hibachi. In the past the chicken was sometimes rubbery an flavorless. Today it was very tender, juicy and had enough spices and sauce. Our server was attentive and our food came out really quickly. Excellent meal!
