I recommend the pastries/croissants the most for food. The food isn’t outstanding, but better than Starbucks.
The coffee is great! And there are a lot of options.
The best part is the atmosphere and seating. It is cozy and comfy, but not crowded.
The service was also great! Overall you need to stop by if you’re in Louisiana.
This morning, as I do almost every Saturday, I went through the drive-through to purchase ham and cheese croissants. I’ve been a regular customer and have never had issues before.
I was informed there were only four ham and cheese croissants available (I usually purchase five), so I ordered the remaining four, along with one sausage biscuit and egg bites. When I arrived home, I discovered that two of the croissants were plain with no ham or cheese, and the egg bites were completely cold, watery, and had a very unpleasant odor, making them inedible.
I typically don’t check my food in the drive-through out of courtesy to other customers, but due to the issues, I returned to the store to bring back the three incorrect items. I calmly explained the situation. Unfortunately, there was no apology or acknowledgment of the inconvenience. The interaction felt dismissive, and I did not feel valued as a customer. I requested a refund and was told it would be processed back to my card.
What was most disappointing was not just the food quality, but the lack of customer service. A simple apology or acknowledgment would have gone a long way. Instead, I left feeling that my time and loyalty did not matter. The extra travel time to return the items is time I can’t get back.
Because there is no confidence that this issue won’t happen again—and given how the situation was handled—I won’t be returning. I genuinely hope this feedback helps improve both food quality and customer service for future customers.
Personally, this is some of my favorite coffee in Lake Charles. Much better than Starbucks. They offer a wide variety of coffees (hot, iced, & frozen) as well as lotus energy drinks, hot chocolate, and Italian cream sodas. Don’t miss out on the available pastries and savory items either. I recommend the cinnamon roll and the spinach puff.
I will say that this spot can get crowded. It’s a favorite for students since McNeese University is nearby. Keep that in mind during the school season.
About 12:30 the shop was empty, which is normal for a coffee shop.
First thing I noticed was how excited the staff was to see me, they were very invested in helping with my order and even tried to make something off menu at my request.
The Shop itself is very pretty, had a good vibe and colors. Could see myself studying or even taking a small meeting here.
Baked Good were from Helen St Bakery, well known place on the other side of town, Didn’t try them but they looked fantastic.
I Had the snowcone because I’m 5, but I’ve heard their coffee can be on the sweeter side so you might ask for half pumps of whatever it is your ordering.
All in All a needed addition to this side of Lake Charles and I will be going again.
Vibes: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ – I am a firm believer in supporting local businesses & I will gladly spend my money here over big name coffee shops. Theyre constantly coming out with themed menus & changing their decor with seasons. There are lots of plug in’s for laptops or phone chargers. The baristas are the sweetest in town! So friendly & always seem very happy to be at work which is refreshing.
Coffee/food: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ – I have nearly tried the entire menu, to no one’s surprise my absolute faves on the coffee menu are the iced honeybee (honey, vanilla & cinnamon) or the rowdy (coconut & caramel). The pastries are from Helen st bake house & are also divine! Aside from coffee & pastries, they also sell egg cups, overnight oats, bluebell ice cream & snowcones!
Accessibility: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ – I frequent the drive thru 2x a week minimum but it is so cute & chill inside. For a huge, brand new build, this parking lot disappoints me (not the buzz’s fault at all). There are 2 handicapped spots with a ramp near the buzz & another set a few doors down. No automatic button at front door. There are plenty of low top tables with removable chairs but they are heavy & well made, so be aware of that. Bathroom is genderless, single stall, average sized with a grab bar. I’ve used it with my walker & it was fine but I think a full size wheelchair would be tight!
I ordered a Bumble Bee(white chocolate mocha) iced with oat milk and whipped topping and I am in lovvvvve. I’ve had coffee all over Lake Charles, and The Buzz is definitely my new favorite.
I think the girls who served me were Blair and Megan! I told them I’d forget their names, but I hope I got that right. They served me with smiles and we chatted while they got my order ready. I am SO impressed by this business already! If you have a coffee craving, go check them out!
They also have more than just coffee! ☕️
They have a drive through, but I wanted to step inside for my first visit. This place is spotless, and there are croissants, cake pops, and more in the box by the register!
