This place is awesome. It can be hard finding restaurants with sufficient vegan options, and they have many. Tasty food. Also, the ambiance is so cool inside. They have an impressive bar set up with a pool table and lounge area. It feels trendy, something you would find in the city. You could grab a drink with friends after work here or grab a bite with family. It says Cafe on the sign outside, but it is definitely much more than that here. Will be back!

Trendy little place (actually, it’s pretty spacious) with a hearty assortment of snacks and chai. As other reviews have mentioned, they aren’t kidding around with the spice level here. I like spicy food, so I asked for medium spice, but I actually think mild would have ensured a better flavor balance for me.

I have so far been able to try the saffron chai, two samosas, and three paneer tikka tacos. That is already a lot of food for me, but since my husband came along, I also got to try his cheese curds. The cheese curds were especially good, as they were lightly dusted in a spicy powder. As for my food, I really liked the samosas, which were stuffed to the brim and full of flavor. The tikka sauce on the tacos was my favorite, with its nice tomatoey tang. Finally, the chai was complex, and piping hot, but not exactly sweet. I went ahead and added some sugar.

Beyond all this, there are many more intriguing fusion items on the menu. We’ll have to come back to try them another time. You place your order on a touchscreen, so you have a chance to ponder all of the tempting options.

I do feel they could be a little more generous with the dipping sauces. I feel like dipping sauce is a big part of eating Indian street food, but you have to pay extra if you want any. There was some ketchup on the tables, and a very small amount of mint chutney served with my samosas. My husband says he was supposed to get a tikka dipping sauce with his cheese curds, but it was missing. In any case, I don’t think it would be too much for something like a yogurt sauce to be made available to dine-in customers at the least.

As for the vibe, it was rather modern and hip. I noticed a pool table and some board games, so the atmosphere encourages one to casually get together with friends and stay a while.

The service we received was very attentive (so my husband should have asked for his tikka sauce if he wanted it!).

Growing up on Devon Avenue (little India) I yearned for a place like this when I moved to the burbs. Chit Chaat Cafe felt like home. So happy to have it in the area.

Food was delicious, service was great and everyone was so friendly. The decor was outstanding! Such a cozy and cute spot. Excited for all the new additions to the menu as well! Won’t stop raving about this place.

Overall, the dining experience was fine. The food was about what you’d expect from an Indian street food place that is also doing a fusion mixture. I liked that the menu offered a couple of typical Indian items and also some fusion ones. The prices are a bit high, but not outrageous. I would be interested to try other items there. The best thing I ate was the loaded masala fries with the vanna sauce.

So, I’m no stranger to Indian cuisine or even vegan/vegetarian as evident in all of my reviews. I’ll start with the positives, the employees were very friendly and helpful. We ordered the vegan vada pav sliders for something extra. I got the Mumbai cutting chai with the samosas and paneer tikka tacos.

I really enjoyed the Mumbai cutting chai, it wasn’t overly bitter. It’s a good chai to enjoy in any setting. The samosas I really liked. The empanada like crust was crispy. The fillings inside were moist and fresh. They pair well with both kinds of chutney. For the paneer tikka tacos I wasn’t feeling it, I felt like it was missing something. It was just bland to me. The vegan vada pav sliders were tasty but it was still spicy even after I selected mild.

A tip for future customers. When you walk in, you go to the kiosks to order. After you do that and get your number, you find a table. They will bring your food to your table.

The ambience at Chit Chaat Cafe is very welcoming, with a cozy vibe that’s perfect for hanging out. They even have games to play, which adds a fun touch to the experience. I tried the panipuri and it was really good – fresh and flavorful. A nice spot if you’re craving some tasty chaat in a chill setting.

I was excited to try Chit Chaat Cafe as I don’t often get to experience Indian cuisine. Located in a strip center with plenty of parking,we were immediately greeted by their friendly staff who explained to us what we would be eating.

We started with the Samosas with a mint chutney and a sweeter chutney. Both sauces complimented the Samosas which were amazing!

We then tried the Paneer Tikka Tacos with marinated Paneer, taco sauce, onions and roasted peppers. A little messy because there was so much filling but so tasty. The flavors blended very well.

I also ordered a side of Masala Fries with their House Sauce but honestly you didn’t need the sauce as the fries were seasoned perfectly and the sauce was spicey.

My wife had a Dirty Chai Latte which she loved which was served with Parle G biscuits.

They also just got their liquor license so they will be hosting a few comedy and musical events in the future along with a new outdoor patio area.

For delicious Indian Fusion foods ,this is the place to try.

I visited this place today Feb/1/2025. Ordered savepuri and Vadapaw. The worst savpury I have ever eat. The savepuri stuffing was like a pawbhaji masala loaded with Garam masala onion and Potatoes. Test was like, I was eating a spoonful of Garam masala. It was too dry and the stuffing was kind of old like it was siting out for long time. Vadapaw were made the same way it did not test anything like traditional Vadapaw, vada were too small. It was severed with dry garlic chatty and onion. It is costly. This place has just opened within a month or two. All of the dishes were nothing like Bombay street food. Place was clean and atmosphere is decent. I absolutely will not waist my money here.

100% Vegetarian new restaurant in Mount Prospect serving Mumbai style street food. Check it out last week and had a great experience love the vibe decor of this restaurant. It’s so spacious as well lit. I loved all the decor and pictures they had on the wall and they also have a shelf with game board games that we can play once we get there. I like the menu options. They have so many great options to choose from my favorites were the pani puri, pav bhaji, Vada pav sliders , and lassi. Both the rose and mango lassi are delicious.

Special mention for the Mumbai cutting chai it was a 10/10.

Been wanting to visit Chit Chaat Cafe after seeing an Insta reel. Unfortunately, the hype isn’t real. Overpriced of the quality and quantity of the food you order.
Vanaa Maggie: Just your normal maggie that you make it at home.
Paneer wraps: has no taste of sauce, bean burrito from Taco Bell has a better taste.
Vada paav: The red color garlic chutney was okay, vada didn’t taste that good.
Karak mumbai chai: basic tea, no other flavor of ginger, cardamom, or any chai masala.
Paani puri: 12 puri for $15, not worth it.
