This place is the real deal. You can tell their bread is made from scratch with real ingredients and old school care. Their Country Sourdough has that perfect tang and texture that only comes from true fermentation, no shortcuts. Try out the breakfast sandwiches too. Fresh & full of flavor, eggs cooked just right, the cheese melts beautifully, nice chewy but crisp bite on the bacon. 10/10

From fresh artisan loaves and cookies to grab-and-go sammies and hot weekend breakfast—this woman-owned gem in New Brighton is doing it all. No preservatives, no bleached flour, just honest ingredients and unbeatable flavor.
We walked in and were hit with that warm, cozy smell of fresh bread – heaven!
Tried their famous English muffins, a sourdough loaf, and the most genius invention ever—a charcuterie roll (yes, really).
They also pop up at local farmers markets and sell to Pittsburgh faves!

Amazing Fabulous bakery! They helped me put a gift bag together for a co-worker, and it is so thoughtfully lovingly prepared. They included a fresh loaf, sourdough muffins, honey, oil, delicious jam, and a fabulous shirt. What a great way to celebrate a friend. I can’t wait to see her face in awe of such beautiful provisions. Thank you so much! Another one bites the crust

I was able to visit Brown Bear on opening day and was absolutely blown away by the space, product quality, and customer service! I ordered the ham and swiss sandwich to go and am not surprised that the quality was 10/10, from the incredible bread down to the ham. I also snagged a cheddar scone which was MASSIVE and so reasonably priced… I devoured it. I cannot wait to visit again, and have been telling anyone who will listen to me to visit!!
Since I was there, I saw on social media that they’ve expanded their offerings to include French Toast Waffles and even more gorgeous pastries. 100% recommend to a friend, 100% will make the trek again and again.

Don’t walk, RUN to Brown Bear Bread Cafe as soon as you can. An adorable space, friendly owner and staff and unbelievable food. We started with a famous cinnamon roll and it did not disappoint. Get there early because these sell out! We then had the breakfast sandwich and bread pudding. The sandwich was made on a homemade English muffin with a side of amazing potatoes. I’ll dream about those potatoes. And the breakfast bread pudding was savory with a hint of sweet. Definitely a must-try. We also took home a loaf of the salted focaccia and WOW. Just wow. We can’t wait to go back and try everything. Consider us regulars!

We are so lucky that Brown Bear Bread Cafe has found a storefront in Mt. Oliver. Their bread is amazing and now I can go and get a new sourdough loaf anytime I want. They’re open 7 days a week!
They have a great array of breakfast and lunch options that all highlight their delicious bread. I got the turkey, ham, bacon sandwich which was served with a homemade herb aioli. Yum! Definitely ready to go back and try more delicious things.

This was sourdough heaven. I can’t believe the variety of breads. This is my first review I felt I needed to give but I can’t argue with my family devouring the babka and chili bread. Who the heck would think chili bread is a idea?

Tasty food and a good atmosphere. It is a little pricey, but the food is good. It wasn’t the best biscuits and gravy I’ve ever had. Overall I would recommend trying it out. The breakfast sandwiches were a big hit in my group

Unique cafe not far from the city in an area that has recently undergone a bit of a revitalization. The cafe was very clean, trendy and modern. They make excellent breads and baked goods. They serve Commonplace Coffee. They have a small but mighty brunch menu. I tried the cheddar and tomato omelette and it was delicious.
