And Yen… wow. As the chef and co-owner alongside her husband, she pours her heart into every dish. She not only highlights the very best of Vietnamese flavors, but she does it with such warmth, sweetness, and authenticity. You can feel how much she cares that you *love* the food. Absolutely fantastic restaurant and bar. Great supporting a new local restaurant, with great people. If you are looking for a place for Vietnamese food come and say hi to Dustin and his wife Yin. If you are also looking for hand painted art from Vietnam they have it. Food drink awesome.

Love the owners and their amazing food. The menu changes daily but the staples are typically always available. It’s a small but mighty menu. Love this place so much and grateful to have them in forest grove!!

i can always count on there being a hearty vegan entree which makes ordering here easy. i would love if a tofu-based or other such appetizer was offered. flavors are always amazing, and the bun rieu chay i recently got had a hefty amount of silken tofu, firm tofu (incredible btw—) & cha lua chay. incredibly satisfying.
this business deserves all the love!

The Vietnam Experience is really special. The warm service and atmosphere are wonderful but I’ll skip straight to the food: Each dish is made from scratch daily by the owner, and that care really comes through in the quality, freshness and rich flavors. My kids, spouse, parents and I each tried a different dish and we were all impressed! My only regret is that I didn’t sample the cocktail list, which looks amazing (the other owner is the mixologist!). We will absolutely be back.

We met Yen and Justin a year ago. I remember their plans to open their own business, and they succeeded! I’m so happy for them . Yen is an excellent cook and host. Her dishes are exactly as I remember them from my vacation in Vietnam. Their authenticity and flavors are spectacular. It’s a very classy restaurant. If you have a discerning palate and appreciate good food, don’t hesitate to pay a little more to enjoy excellent dishes.

Vex, the bar, is now vEX, the Vietnamese Experience. Yen and Dustin are really molding this into a unique place. The bar had creative cocktails and the kitchen changes the menu weekly. Yen wants people to experience the food she grew up with and loves. I recommend the Spicy Dumplings, the fillings are amazing. I get them done non-spicy and could DRINK the sauce she serves them with – ask for a baguette or rice to soak up all the flavors.

First of all, please note that this “VEx” restaurant is not the same as the previous “VEX” drinking establishment which was very different and not very good!
The latest VEx is a breath of fresh air in the Forest Grove, Hillsboro, Beaverton dining area. Here you have an owner who is cooking the food she ate when living in her former home of Vietnam. The memories and the flavors come out in every dish. An example of what I mean is that a simple sauce created from memory that is served with the Bahn Mi sampler plate is perfectly balanced with tangy, sweet and spicy. Even after many meals in the greater Portland area since 1983, I have not tasted such fresh and delightful Vietnamese cooking.
The owners are a young-ish husband and wife, both very friendly if you have questions about the menu, especially the imported beers or creative cocktails, they will explain the details. Given this is Forest Grove, it’s not a fancy place (so leave your formal wear at home) but it’s very nicely decorated and comfortable.

The BEST Vietnamese food in town!! The chili oil wontons were so delicious and the braised beef stew was the main event. Plus the owners of the business were attentive to service and informative on Vietnamese culture and cuisine! We will be back anytime we are in town.
