I recently stopped at Potato Bar with my son for a casual meal while shopping at Ross Park Mall. We decided on this spot because it was quick, and visually appealing from the counter setup.

Pot Roast Potato $13.99
Supreme Fries $12.50
Coca-Cola (16 oz) $2.25
Subtotal: $28.74
Total (with tax): $30.75

Both meals were delicious and filling. The Supreme Fries were loaded generously and full of flavor, while the Pot Roast Potato was hearty, well-seasoned, and satisfying. The food exceeded expectations for mall dining.

While standing in line, I observed three employees working. Two female employees were wearing clear plastic gloves, while the male employee prepping food was initially not wearing gloves. After we paid for our food, I began recording at the counter. The employee noticed and quietly put on gloves, which was appreciated, though it should have been standard practice from the start.

Aside from that moment, service was efficient, and our order was prepared in a reasonable amount of time.

The atmosphere is what you’d expect from a mall food court busy, open, and functional. The kitchen is visible, which makes cleanliness and food-handling practices especially noticeable. Seating is shared mall seating, so it’s casual and convenient rather than intimate.

Potato Bar delivers excellent food quality and generous portions, making it a solid choice for a quick, satisfying meal at Ross Park Mall. Attention to consistent food-safety practices would greatly improve the overall experience. I would return again for the food especially the Supreme Fries, but hope to see more consistency in staff hygiene moving forward.

As Québécois visiting Pittsburgh, we were so excited (and a little skeptical!) to try the poutine at Potato Bar and wow, did it deliver! The fries were perfectly crispy, the gravy rich and flavorful, and the cheese curds had that ideal squeak. It tasted just like home, maybe even better!
The staff were super friendly, the atmosphere was relaxed and fun, and everything we tried was absolutely delicious. You can tell they put care into every dish. Highly recommend to anyone craving comfort food done right, especially fellow Canadians missing a good poutine! We’ll definitely be back next time we’re in town. ❤️

The gentleman was patient with me as I took forever to look at the menu and he was able to recommend the Pot Roast. Oh boy, it was super good!!! He loaded me up! He was also so nice because he gave my girl a side of shredded cheese cause she wanted some with her lunch.

I tried Potato Bar today and honestly didn’t enjoy it at all. Had their burger fries — the fries weren’t crispy, and the burger patty was too dry and tough to chew. On top of that, it lacked even basic seasoning like salt and pepper. The only thing I actually liked was their house-made sauce. Overall, their food just isn’t for me.

I don’t want to hear any of y’all ever say to me “why we going to the mall for dinner” “it’s just a food stall at the mall, how good could it be?” BRO the potato is MASSIVE and so soft and cooked through. The toppings were fresh and delicious. I’ve literally always wanted a potato with chili and they had it!! The staff were very kind. My only complaint is it’s not available after 10pm when I’ve had a few drinks. A must try not just for mall patrons, but for the city of Pittsburgh!

Hand for scale lol

The owner is the only one working , and he is so pleasantly nice and the passion he has for his food is truly inspiring. I got a build your own potato with sautéed mushrooms, onions and peppers with gravy , sour cream and scallions, my boyfriend got the chicken fajita baked potato! As a chef I’d eat here again and again! Food is 10/10 and so worth the money spent! I’d like to say it’s always so nice to get great food and the person serving it has a smile on their face!

I KNOW I will always get the best potato and flavor! I can’t get away from the pot roast because it’s amazing and makes me feel like my soul and everything is right with the world! Please be patient though cause sometimes it takes a bit of time, but I promise it’s worth the wait!

Tucked unassumingly past the gates of fashion mediocrity between a China Mi and coming to you soon Shake Shack lies The Potato Bar. A temple of starch where culinary subtlety is gleefully cast aside in favor of molten cheese and glorious excess.

I began with the Cheesy Steak Potato, a dish that bravely rejects balance in favor of indulgence. The potato itself? A soft, buttery vessel. Perhaps grown in soil blessed by ancient snack gods. Cradling tender steak and a lava flow of unapologetic cheese and mushrooms. It did not whisper to my palate. It shouted, joyously and with carbs.

But the Tornado Fry… ah, the Tornado Fry. A spiraled helix of deep fried defiance, crisped to a golden hue rarely seen outside of Renaissance paintings. It is a fry that demands attention, admiration, and possibly a nap.

In conclusion: The Potato Bar is not a dining experience. It is a reckoning. A beautiful, cheesy, slightly greasy reckoning. Five stars. Would eat again while pretending “I don’t normally eat like this.”

Would have posted the before photo, but I couldn’t wait that long.

My mother and I drove 2 hours from Altoona to Pittsburg to try their potato, they did not disappoint. Everything was hot and not good overly salted. Definitely recommend. The staff was friendly and upbeat.
