When traveling we like to have a nice date night out. I found a story online and it mentioned Doe’s and it did not disappoint!
The atmosphere is chill and I wouldn’t change a thing. I read other reviews that thought it was too casual, I don’t need white table cloths, I’m here for the food.
We both had filet, she got the 8 oz & I got the 10 oz. We both agreed it was some of the best steaks we have ever had. They were really that good! The fries were fresh cut and amazing. All three of the other sides were very good too.
Our server was good too, not over the top or anything. The servers are in t-shirts & jeans (the waitresses in shorts). If this is an issue for you go to Ruth’s or someplace else.
The meal was outstanding. We spent $100/head and we each had a glass of wine plus the table sized sides. It was really a pretty perfect meal. If you’re looking for a really good quality steak dinner don’t pass Doe’s up!

A friend recommended Doe’s Eat Place for tamales. The atmosphere is great, located in a nineteenth century home. The food is great with huge steaks and wonderful hot tamales made with steak trimmings. Our server was great, very friendly and attentive. A great spot to eat.

Best steak in the country, I often stop on my drives from NC to Houston for tamales and a petite filet. The Baton Rouge location is one of the best of all the Doe’s.

Doe’s Eat Place has become a staple in the Baton Rouge area. Their steaks and filets are delicious but you need to bring your appetite along with you. The smallest steak is 1.5 pounds, that’s a lot of meat to put away. They have some of the best tamales you can find, and the optional Chilli you can get to put over them is FIYA. Staff is always friendly and extremely good at their jobs. There are other options on the menu such as pasta and seafood, as well as some of the best dessert biscuits as a finisher. Give them a try if you’re on Government Street.

Doe’s is extremely accommodating with an exceptional wait staff! The best ribeye & tuna steak in town, hands down! Oh, & don’t skip the tamales, brussel sprouts, or asparagus!! Truly have never had a bad experience. Highly recommend!

Always an excellent experience.
I always get the hamburger steak for lunch. The side salad I get with ranch and Italian on the side because they are both so good.
Not seen are the tamales which are also excellent and served with a homemade chili style sauce!
The steaks are huge so I recommend splitting one if you choose !! They are well known for their steaks for sure!

Always have the best steaks. The tamales appetizer with homemade chili is very delish. Only one occaion my Salad was so salty I couldn’t eat it which was strange but other than that this place is my go to for a good steak, great service and very laid back atmosphere.

The food was amazing. The service was great. The reviews already told me that. The ribeye was the smallest cut of it they had- 1.5#. That’s a big steak!! Temp was perfect. Seasoning was slightly bland- to be expected for the masses. The only reason for the 4 star- was price. It was quite pricey- I was expecting a price tag from the reviews, but I expected a percent, not a factor.
The food was good… it just wasn’t $100+ good.

Good food. Good service. Relaxed atmosphere. Quite pricey but expected for what it is. Not an every day place, but I would DEFINITELY go again.
