The fish and chips here are AMAZING!! The fish is so fresh. Server said they literally cut the fish right before the cooked it. Batter wasn’t too heavy or too light, perfectly seasoned. The staff was super nice and spicy margarita was amazing! I think it might be the best fish and chips I’ve ever had. Fries are cooked 3 times which is the best! We travel constantly and had lots. If we’re ever back here this place will be revisited. Thank you again for the great food, atmosphere and hospitality.

This is a little gem of a place. I was in Old Orchard Beach for a week and had the best meal at The Shack! . I had The Farmers salad and the steamed lobster. The food was so fresh! Prices were reasonable. So happy I stopped in. When I go back to O.O.B. next year I will be eating at The Shack every night

Unfortunately, this is one of the only places that stays open late. It was very frustrating that there was absolutely no parking anywhere around for this restaurant. There is no street parking, and everything around it is owned by the hotels. I tried to park and couldn’t find anything. I had to go a few streets over to the park to park. I felt uncomfortable because there were a lot of homeless people, and I didn’t feel like my car was safe. I parked there anyway and then walked several blocks, but I couldn’t turn the direction of the restaurant because there is a train track that goes through it with a fence on both sides. After walking for 10 minutes, I turned around and went and got my car. I finally offered to pay one of the hotels to park in their parking lot, and they hesitantly agreed. We ordered the fish sandwich and the Philly cheese steak. Both came with a pasta salad, which I typically love. This one tasted like they used cleaning vinegar, and it was pretty gross. My son and I were both joking about how bad it was. He enjoyed the fish sandwich, and I enjoyed the Philly cheesesteak. I just wish there were more options instead of the pasta salad. I enjoy fine dining and never mind pain the higher prices for quality food and the atmosphere. It appeared that the hostess and the waiter were both in a hurry to get people in and out. They don’t bring you silverware and a clean cloth napkin to your table, but instead, there is a little tub with spoons and forks that everybody places their hands on. The table was sticky and not very clean. They serve drinks in plastic cups, including water. They also don’t have to come around and offer you refills because they leave a picture on the table for you to help yourself. You would think with the prices that they are charging that they could at least you bring you glass cups and your own personal silverware. Seemed pretty wasteful to me, but I guess at the end of the day, it’s all about the dollar. They could at least try to buy some of the real estate around them for a parking lot for their customers!

The atmosphere is a shack. The prices are a mansion . Decent food and service. They were very busy yet still gave us good service. Order taken promptly and food was out quickly. Definitely a good place to eat. $29. Lobster roll was very very good. Seafood combo we got scallops and whole bellies which were good. Oddly shaped scallops I believe they cut large scallops in half before breading. Idk but they were odd pancake shape. Very tasty though. $18 poutine was good and plentiful. $7 corona beer.

Season is definitely over when we visited The Shack. Got right in, plenty of parking amusement park closed as was some of the other restaurants. Hubs and I split a lobster roll, Caesar salad and clam chowder. Chowder was perfectly seasoned, salad was plentiful and roll was tender. It was our first we ever had so wasn’t sure what to expect. I think I was expecting the lobster to be warm instead of chilled. But regardless, it was super tender and perfect. All the staff was super friendly and seemed to love working there. Always a good sign ☺️

Had fried clams, they hit the spot. Our waiter was on top of his game. Didn’t have to wait long for anything. Wife and I will be back. Nice casual atmosphere. Had a great walk on the ocean afterwards.

We got a takeout meal. ( Tried ordering ahead and it went to voicemail. They told him they “lost the phone”, sorry.) Mine was scallops and whole belly clams (fried). He got fried haddock and scallops. We split an order of fish tacos, and he got chowder. I was not a fan of the breading on the shellfish, it tasted really weird. I ate 5 clams, exactly 2 scallops, and the inside of 1 fish taco. The scallops were cut into wafer thin slices to get probably 3 slices per normal scallop. ( The fries and slaw went straight to the trash.) I became so sick about 3 hours after the meal. I had severe diarrhea, nausea, chills and horrific stomach pains. I was so faint by morning, I thought Id require IV fluids. Luckily, he ran to get Imodium, and I was able to keep that and Pedialyte down. I am still weak 3 days later, and still have stomach pains. I’m thrilled that other people have found this food to be fantastic, but my experience could not have been much worse. He didn’t get sick, but agreed that it would rate probably 3 stars compared to multiple other places we’ve been in Wells and surrounding areas. Unforgettable, but not in a good way, sadly. I think the meal totaled around $125 for 2. (Takeout)

What a wonderful place to stop in and eat. The food was absolutely fabulous. We tried a variety of things on the menu, and everyone really enjoyed their meals. Everything was extremely fresh and well cooked. The restaurant is very clean and tidy. The bathrooms were very clean too. This spot is very conveniently located on the beach, and the staff was absolutely amazing! We will be back!

An adorably small restaurant right on the coast, I was excited to try as much fresh seafood while I was in Maine for the first time! I was happy to have picked a combo that gave me a big variety! Great clam chowder, cocktail shrimp, and smoothies. My entrée was a whole steamed lobster, mussels, corn on the cob, and slaw.

Glad I tried it, though not sure it is something I would get again. A fun experience taking apart your own lobster, though I think steaming makes it a bit more chewy so not my favorite way to prepare lobster. Mussels are also just something not for everyone, an oddly mushy interior but done well no doubt.
