Just had a wonderful meal at this establishment. Spent the first part of my day learning about the history of the area and felt the warmth and love as soon as I stepped into this black establishment. The owner was very welcoming and the staff were inviting, answering questions that I had. The food was exceptional, I had the fish sandwich with fries and it was so good. Definitely recommend hitting this spot if you’re in the area. You won’t be disappointed!

Stopped by for breakfast when in town. The food was good. Pancakes with bacon and eggs. The staff had a great attitude and reminded me what southern hospitality is all about. There is a Jukebox for tunes. The rest of the place is unassuming.

The owner Ms. Treece is the most nicest person in the world. Her food, complimented her personality. I mean this woman can COOK. Her cakes are just like your gma, or mama used to make. Man her grits are just like your mom used to make . I must admit every time I took a
Spoonful , it was like I got immersed back into that lil boy feeling of eating mama grits , just buttery and the texture y’all gotta definitely try Nelson’s Cafe and make sure you get the grits

Cold morning, and the fridge was low, so decided to order breakfast via Doordash. Spotted this and specifically decided to try it because of the salmon croquettes, something that reminds me of my Mom. I must say it was tasty, of course, not as good as Mom’s, though. Enjoyed the meal!

I’m at work and I’m hangry at 10am. I don’t need, nor want to pay for fancy food. This place is PERFECT. I use a delivery service, and have never been there in person but I imagine somebody’s grandmother or aunt in the kitchen making my food.
This is like food that comes out of a regular kitchen–basic and good. It is priced right and they serve breakfast all day. You want pancakes, a BLT, and a burger? Yes. You want grits and a pig ear sandwich with a side of fries? Liver and onions with gravy and a side of bacon and some tea? Yes baby, you can have that too!

So I used to frequent this restaurant while Mr. Nelson was alive. The place was always packed and lively. It was a spot where people would come to socialize as they listened to the jukebox. Well the menu has less items now and the atmosphere is not quite the same but the family is still there and there is a new fancy jukebox. I will always support when I am Downtown. Now to the nitty gritty you can get breakfast sandwiches, pork chops and rice and other familiar foods. Now, I go for pig ear sandwiches this is the only place that I can still get one if I have the craving.

One of my favorite restaurants in the city..great breakfast/brunch. Family owned. Historical location. I love their liver and onions for brunch. Also have Great pancakes.
Really everything tastes good there. The people there are great. History is literally on their walls.

The lady over the place is extremely pleasant but the food today was horrible. To scoop up some undone clunky rice and place it on a plate and drizzle gravy over it like it was going to help was insane. I honestly feel like I wasted over $30 dollars for some food that wasn’t enjoyed and I tipped so it was close to $40 total that’s just gone.
