I went in there to buy somthing to eat and when I went to the counter the man behind the counter handed me a surgical mask. He said I had to use it. Even though I did not like the idea I still bought what I want to eat and left. But as I was walking out I couldn’t help myself but get upset and disgusted there is still business in Hawaii who are still brainwashed and living in fear due to the fake civid pandemic they were propagandized to believe. I guess no one told them the truth or just refuse to believe it. Because of them forcing customers to wear a mask in their restraunt…. I will never eat or buy any more food items from them ever again.

A diamond in the rough for people who enjoy this type of local grinds. No mask, no service! But they will provide too if you don’t have

Food wasn’t as hyped as expected. We stopped by just to get some cookies and were told we had to wear a mask or we wouldn’t be allowed to place an order or speak with the owner. Inside the store, there were more than 10 signs about the pandemic and mask requirements. Considering we’re heading into 2026, this felt unnecessary and uncomfortable. Of course, if that’s their policy, that’s their choice, but it personally gave me an uneasy feeling. If you’re not comfortable with strict mask rules, you may want to skip this place.

Amazing food, great prices, love that they still care about masking!! The 32oz fresh local mango juice alone is enough for a reason to keep coming back.

I have been eating there since the early 90s’.
Food is ok, great value for the price paid. A bit overrated as a lot of folks mention “must try” place to eat.
Gotta hand it to the owners for the great laugh today.
Upon arrival, we noticed a lot of “mask required” signs. Consideting mask requirements have been done for nearly a year, we didn’t think much about the signs.
The man behind the counter stated “you need to wear a mask or pull your shirt over your face”
Not wanting to looknlike I was robbing the place, I webt back to my car to retrieve masks frkm my “stash” that I thought I wouldn’t be needing.
I made my purchase and left.
Experience would have been exponentially better if they weren’t germophobes.
Good place to check out, great selection of plate lunches and baked goods.
Definitely not a “must see”, more like “check it out if you’re on a budget, but want a decent meal or snack.”

Great for rainbow bread but don’t expect great service. Lady yelled at me repeatedly because I didn’t wear a mask (they still require it), because I took pictures (she told me to delete everything and not post online) and then the credit card didn’t work (luckily I had cash). She yelled at a guy outside that was parked in one of their stalls (it was not busy at all). It was funny but the rainbow bread was worth it!!!

Employees coughing in the store while strict masks are preached here.
Someone has been watching too much Chinese state television.
Banana bread was just wheat bread with 0.000001% banana flavor. Not what i expected..

Shortbread cookies are so delicious. So many flavors. My favorite is the Mauna Kea Shortbread cookie. They also have super affordable local plates, breakfast all day, and they sell homemade breads. The inside eating area has been closed since covid but you can still order take out.
