An incredible dinner for our anniversary!
We booked a table, though it wasn’t quite busy enough on a Monday but super easy to do regardless.
The service, from the hostess to our server, was amazing, kind, and very present throughout the night.
There aren’t enough stars to rate the food, so I guess 5 has to suffice. We started with the meatball appetizer and an order of bread and oil and MY GOODNESS. Try them both, you won’t be disappointed.
Then, we followed up that mouth-watering goodness with lasagna and the bolognese, both of which left us wanting more room to eat more!
Whether you live across the street or are in the area for the night, this is a must try if you’re into Italian food (or you know, just food in general).

Josephine’s has quickly become our favorite restaurant in Fruita/ Grand Junction! We were in town for a week and ended up dining there three times for dinner! We simply could not stay away. The food is that good, and the service is unmatched.
Over those visits, we tried quite a bit of the menu. The lasagne was rich and comforting, the pasta pomodoro was fresh and perfectly balanced. I ordered the pomodoro with the meatball appetizer for some protein. The meatballs were AMAZING, and the bread service alone is worth ordering every time. The margherita pizza was beautifully done, and the sausage-and-fennel pizza had incredible flavor. We also had the asparagus, which my son said was the best he has ever had, the braciole, and the creamy nduja, all outstanding.
For dessert, we shared the olive oil cake (with lemon zest), tiramisu, and a pistachio special. Every single one was delicious.
When something is this good, you want to experience as much of the menu as possible. We brought our son and daughter-in-law with us, and it made for such a fun family experience. Great wine selection as well!
The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the team makes you feel genuinely cared for. Every seat was filled each night, so I highly recommend making a reservation. We already cannot wait to come back.

My husband and I were able to sneak a table on a busy Saturday night for our first experience at Josephine’s! I will start by saying we love Fidel’s and could not wait for a chance to try the owners’ second concept.
We had excellent service and followed the education and recommendations of our lovely waitress who took great care of us. Several runners and other staff walked by at all times to make sure we had water, dishes were cleared, and we were well served.
Our approach was to order a bunch of items and share them family style which did not disappoint. We had the Margherita pizza, neopolitan style, the cheese was ooey gooey and the bottom crust melted away with a flavorful sauce. We then shared the Orecchiette pasta with lemon, a little spice, and broccoli rabe which was an excellent palate cleanser in contrast to the Braciole with bucatini pasta and tomato sauce. The noodles!!!
Each element of these dishes was so well flavored. We also shared the polenta fries which I really wish we would have ordered a second helping of because they were crispy, soft, warm, and had little peeky pops of sage that were phenomenal.
We finished off our meal with the tiramisu, I would have loved less saturation on the sponge and a thicker layer of marscapone but these aren’t based on my recipes they’re based on Josephine’s.
I don’t remember too much of what my husband was saying but I think the gist of the conversation was “Mmm.”
Overall we had a great experience, plan on returning and are so glad that despite the challenges that can come with starting up and running a business these owners took the chance.

My first time at Josephine’s was one to remember! Our server was very attentive and helpful. The food/cocktails were absolutely delicious. I am already planning on another visit soon. It was my birthday and they were so kind to send me off with a goodie bag with sweets and my very own Josephine’s glass!! Highly recommend and anyone who says different must be crazy!

For entrées, Tyler went with spaghetti and steak (don’t ask me the fancy name—I was focused on eating ). I went with the Bolognese with pappardelle pasta and that was hands-down my favorite . That homemade pasta is a straight-up home run ⚾️ and the bolognese with it is just ridiculous in the best way
Dessert time ✨ Tyler had the tiramisu cake and I had the tiramisu cocktail (and yep… it’s a MUST if you like martinis and a little sweet in your alcohol ).

Food, the reason we came, was average for the perceived quality and price. They talked on the bread basket of the night but it wasn’t free. A basket of bread should be free when you are going to spend $40+ per person. The Bruschetta had nice roasted tomatoes but the bread was thin and more chewy than crunchy. The carrots appetizer were very good, and we thought perhaps that was a stepping stone to our main course. The waitress (Danielle D) was spectacular (but for one mistake described later) and when she described how special the pizza crust was we couldn’t wait. But, the pizza was pretty disappointing for a restaurant that highlights the wood burning oven almost center stage. The crust, while it looked nice and charred, was soggy on the undercarriage and the charred edges were chewy with no signs of ever being truly crispy. On top of that they put red sauce on my Sausage/Fennel pizza which, according to the menu, had no red sauce. Between the watery red sauce and high water content cheeses they chose there was no way they could have served a proper crust. And I’ll say I could barely taste the sausage and that was because there was only one or two small bits of it on each quarter pizza slice. The atmosphere was pretty nice, albeit a bit hot, even on a Winter night, due to the pizza oven. I also think the lights could be dimmed 25% and we heard the table next to us say 50%. All of the staff were cheerful and attentive and that is certainly to be expected for a place open just over a month. However, as we were paying our bill we overheard our waitress talking about the specials to the table next to us, which she never told us about. We won’t rush back and hope they are able improve upon the details of their food that has potential be very good.

We had an amazing experience at Josephine’s! The food was incredible and truly authentic, everything tasted fresh, thoughtfully prepared, and full of flavor. The appetizers were especially outstanding and a perfect way to start the meal.
On top of the great food, they also have an excellent wine and cocktail list with plenty of options to pair with dinner. The atmosphere and overall experience made it a place we’ll definitely be coming back to. Highly recommend!

My boyfriend and I had the best time at Josephine’s! I got a Negroni and he got a dirty martini to start we both LOVED our drinks. For aps we got the meatballs and roasted carrots and OMG!!!!!!! So. Good. I will be returning just for these two dishes. If it was acceptable I would have licked the plate that the roasted carrots were on! Haha. We had to try the caprese martini that was surprisingly delish! For our entree we shared the lasagna and it was very yummy! To finish we got the tiramisu HOLY CRAP! Heaven in my mouth. We got it to go and ended up eating the whole thing there because it was so good. Danielle, Kale, and Jes were so sweet and helpful! We had such a great time, will definitely be coming back.
