I was staying in downtown Sac, and had a craving for Birria, and I’m so glad I found this place. I have been all over North America eating tacos, and hands down, this has become my favorite Birria place. I never would’ve expected it, but it’s so flavorful and seasoned. I initially ordered 2 birria tacos, and an assortment of street tacos – while I didn’t enjoy the street tacos as much, the Birria blew my mind. I ordered another pair.
The workers were kind, and it was equally awesome to support a family owned business. Congratulation to Carino on having an amazing taco.

I went to Carino in the late morning for some tacos. I immediately noticed how clean and bright the place is! The decor is adorable and the server, Irma, was incredibly friendly and kind.
I ordered a giant mug of horchata. It was cold and tasty and not gritty like some horchata can be.
I ordered 4 tacos- the quesabirria, the crispy taco with shredded beef, two street tacos (asada and carnitas), and a side of rice. I’m a hungry girl and I needed to try everything.
After I ordered, Irma brought me chips and salsa that were totally delicious! My food was then brought out all on one plate and the presentation was fabulous.
Their produce was incredibly fresh – the onions and cilantro were crisp and tasty and the single lime wedge had enough juice to cover my whole meal – I REALLY appreciate a high-producing lime wedge. Their onions were chopped so finely but still crisp. I can tell they care a lot about quality ingredients and freshness. She brought me a side of salsa verde which was also great.
The quesabirria was fantastic. It was a savory, well-rounded flavor. It wasn’t overly cheesy, but still- the cheese pulls on this thing were something to behold.
The crispy taco was also very good. Lots of meat and cheese, as well as lettuce and cabbage. I don’t love cabbage on tacos typically, but that’s a personal preference and didn’t take away from the meal at all. I ate every bite.
The street tacos were great! They are small, thick, and lightly charred but still maintain a softness to them. I was not worried about out my taco falling apart once. Both the carnitas and asada were very lightly seasoned compared to a lot of taco places, but they were not bland. The lighter seasoning let me really taste the flavor of the meat itself, which I could tell was high quality and fresh- there were no yucky bits. Paired with the onions, cilantro , lime, and salsa they really were a great combination of flavors without one ingredient overpowering the others.
At the end of the meal Irma thanked me earnestly for coming in and talked with me about her kids and husband- I can tell she is a great mom and I sincerely hope this restaurant does very well!

Good place to eat, I ordered the chilaquiles. Food needed salt which is proffered over it being too salty. The cafe de olla could have been stronger and not as waterred down but had an amazing flavor to it, would get it again. The waiting time was about the only thing I didn’t enjoy about my visit (even tjough it was self sitting, it took a long time for my waitress to get my order and took a long time for my food to come out) definitely don’t come if you are on a rush, but that staff was super friendly and attentive! One of the waitress even asked if I wanted spicier salsa out of nowhere which is super me Pricing is great as well.

Its been awhile ive gone to a Mexican restaurant, not by choice but but most of the time ive been going to taco trucks, as their so many these days. Taco trucks are to me different, because they dont have time to prepare a full meal, or a fresh meal. Compare to restaurants, that have the space, and place to store more food to do the cooking.
Im happy to stop by at this restaurant, as I was looking for some fresh Mexican food at the last minute. I had their taco bowl, and I really enjoy how light and fluffy the bowl was, and all the ingredients that was added to it was fresh. I will hope to come back here, as the service was friendly, and welcoming.

Tried the Pambazo at Cariño and it was absolutely delicious: rich, comforting, and packed with flavor. The bread was perfectly soaked and crisped, and the filling was hearty without being heavy. You can really tell care goes into the food here. Can’t wait to come back and try more of the menu.

I came here for the mole poblano and I was blown away by the quality of the food. Not only was the mole poblano absolutely incredible, but all of the food was top notch. The chips were fresh and warm, the salsa perfectly balanced and fresh, the rice flavorful and fluffy, the flan a delicious finale. Executing flawlessly on every detail like this is no easy feat. If you are looking for the Holy Grail of Mexican food in the Sacramento area, this is it. Kind staff, clean, not noisy, street parking was readily available at 6pm on a Saturday. 10/10.
