Don’t let the seemingly low rating of this restaurant keep you away! The barbecue is delicious and the herbed potato salad is on point. The pulled pork was tender and the barbecue sauce was a fantastic compliment. The portions are generous and the happy hour deals are fantastic. The atmosphere is superb and I can imagine how nice it would be in summer. I would definitely come back!

I have eaten here many times, and I’ve been impressed every time. Let’s face it…..there are many opinions about what makes good cornbread–so many variations. I love the whole grain feeling of their cornbread rather than eating a piece of cake that tastes like corn. Each to their own. The menu has something for everyone….lower price range for a variety of sides….vegetable type stuff like collards, and that potato salad is SO good…the twice baked potato so loaded was good for 2 meals….the meat is well smoked and tasty….good pizzas….innovative drinks….the salads are fresh….and the space, well it’s spacious, great for kids, and dog friendly. I hope they do live music there again like last summer. I will be there every week for dinner! Jess is amazing, a great bar tender, and very welcoming. Madison has been my server there many times and has my back. Great service by all!! I don’t understand any of the comments about poor service there…I have never experienced that in all my times there.

This is the only BBQ spot in Santa Rosa, so I was excited to give it a try. Unfortunately, the first bite of cornbread was a letdown and foreshadowed the rest of the dishes. It was dry and hard. The meats were decent, though they could use a bit more moisture. No pineapple-marinated options here, either.
It was worth trying once, but I wouldn’t return unless they make some improvements.

I have eaten at a LOT of bbq spots across the states. The atmosphere was on point. Our server was amazing. Could have been because it was Monday but the brisket was very dry. I expected to get a drier portion because I chose the lean brisket, but this was over done. This should be the cornerstone of any fantastic bbq restaurant. The BBQ was good, but I wouldn’t go out of my way for it.

I ordered the 1/4 lb smashburger, and it was delicious! Truly a homemade burger. The pickles are refreshing, the bun was super fluffy and did not get soggy! I loved their mustard sauce as well. The mac and cheese is authentic and satisfying. Beautiful presentation as well.

Just what Santa Risa needs. My ribs were cooked perfectly. Like you cannot cook ribs more perfectly. Juicy, tender, full of flavor and moist for days. I heated them up the next day, like they came off the smoker. Brisket was perfect smoke ring and not overpowering while being moist and very tender. Perfect amount of fat. I am hoping for combo plates which I was told are going on the menu. Only feedback would be cheesier Mac and cheese but it was tasty casserole style with breadcrumbs. Add something to the greens or more hock. Maybe cider or brown sugar or something. But overall still five stars. Very nice cocktail program, not over the top and classy too.

My friend showed me pictures of this place, I grew up going to 3rd street Ale works as well so I wanted to go as the pictures of the BBQ looked delicious. They weren’t busy for a Sunday lunch, I ordered a Gin and Tonic, which was super flat and too much gin. I ordered the 2 meat combo, Ribs were a bit chewy, flavor was good. Brisket was dry, looked like it was precut from the day before. Cornbread was hard and dry. House made pickles were salty. I really wanted to like this place, I love BBQ but I don’t think I would go back. When I received my tab there was a fee of 4% for Kithcen Service Charge, that’s not cool.

Downtown Barbecue in Santa Rosa was our go to choice after a hike. Grrrr! Get your bbq grub on! What is it about a nice cold beer after being out in the sun? I had the 3rd St. Aleworks IPA and it did wet the whistle.
My friend and I both ordered the Pitmaster Sandwich and we shared the Tallow Fries. Bottles of bbq are on the table for you to sample on your MEAT. My favorite was the California one with a bit of spice.
Service was friendly, atmosphere was fun, and the grub was good. We parked at a meter but across the street in the parking garage there was a sign about free parking. We were at Downtown Barbecue when it was quiet but it looks like the joint could be hopping on certain nights. Worth visiting.
