If you’re looking for a place that serves consistently amazing food paired with warm, attentive service, look no further than Green Bee Café. This cozy spot has quickly become one of my absolute favorites in the entire DMV.
My go-to order is the egg, bacon, and Gouda croissant, paired with the best home fries you’ll find anywhere in the district or the DMV—crispy, flavorful, beautifully colorful with bell peppers, and simply unmatched. And when I’m craving something a little heartier, their buttermilk fried chicken sandwich—with my preferred sides of a fresh house salad or sweet potato fries—is an absolute delight: perfectly seasoned, perfectly fried, and always satisfying.
Because every visit I’ve had has been so consistently wonderful, I recommended Green Bee Café for catering at work—and they absolutely delivered. Their box lunches were a huge hit, offering a wide variety of fresh and delicious options that everyone genuinely enjoyed.
A very special shout-out to the owner, Teri, who was incredibly responsive and thoughtful throughout the entire ordering process. She took the time to walk us through menu options, was wonderfully flexible, and made sure every detail was handled with care. Working with her was truly a pleasure.

Probably the best breakfast sandwich that I’ve had. Very reasonable price too! The bagel was excellent. Great flavor and perfectly toasted. Eggs was wonderfully cooked. Cheese and sausage were great and a nice helping of fruit on the side. A lot of space inside to sit and eat. Has a nice modern/ industrial feel with exposed ductwork and some other features. Extremely friendly staff. Very happy I decided to pop in here instead of Starbucks. I will be back when in the area.

2020: Great spot to grab some fresh and flavorful food! Probably the BEST sweet potato fries I’ve ever had. They have a gluten free rice wrap, which may not work as a sandwich (but that’s how GF works), but it’s a nice addition! Maybe order the catfish as a salad with the GF wrap on the side.

Knew I loved this place from the moment I told the cashier my meal was ‘for here’ and she said ‘ok, I’ll bring it to you with silverware, don’t get the plastic’ – I can’t tell you how much I appreciate that as we all need to be a more cognizant of our waste (especially plastic) usage. Cloth napkins were a nice touch as well.
Now on to the food….
I had the Egg and Smoked Gouda, add avocado, side of Fruit. What I really wanted was the fried chicken biscuit, add egg with home fries ….but that will have to wait for another time.
The sandwich was delicious . The Gouda was super tasty and the avocado set this baby off!
Very high quality food, in the heart of DC, at a good price – highly, highly recommend this place!

Wonderful food and great staff. The reason I’m giving it 3 stars is because the inside of the restaurant has turned into a storage unit for them. It is no longer pleasant to eat there. We used to go all of the time, but no longer come here because of how bad the interior is.

The food here is great. It may feel like a staging area for move when you walk in, but go right up to the counter and order your food. If you are in doubt, the fried chicken sandwich is a sure hit.
