Went in, and the staff was friendly and welcoming from the door. It was Saturday and my Birthday Month so I decided to treat myself to an Oxtail Diner.
Oxtails & Gravy over Rice: – they had great tenderism and flavor
Mac N Cheese: – It was cool, needs a little more flavor to compliment the cheesiness
Greens: – Were SLAPPIN
Overall, I give Pat’s Place Four out 5 Fire Flames. A bit pricey but great down home flavor experience! Definitely worth recommending!
Catfish ok (couldn’t taste fish due to heavy seasoning!
Collards ok
Oxtails are great and over rice
Black-eyed peas are good
Macaroni and cheese and cabbage ok
Cornbread is good
peach cobbler
I got the pot roast w mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, greens, a piece of chicken and cornbread. Everything is in a combo together. You choose your two sides with your entree, I ordered the piece of chicken separately.
Everything that I had was good. The greens and Mac were nice and salty. The mashed potatoes and pot roast were flavorful. The cornbread was good, I do wish it was a little sweeter though.
There’s a place similar to this style restaurant in Riverside, if you guys have been there and liked it then you’ll like this place. I’m glad they decided to open this place up, I’m fully satisfied with my first visit and plan on returning

First, the experience: The customer service was fantastic—attentive and highly professional. The atmosphere was clean and well-maintained, making for a truly welcoming visit.
Now, for the food—it was phenomenal! We essentially created two full, fantastic plates from the hot bar:
The Comfort Classic Plate: The Smothered Pork Chops were the absolute highlight, swimming in a rich, savory gravy that was delicious! This was paired perfectly with fluffy rice and gravy, tender cabbage, and that legendary macaroni and cheese (seriously, it was really good—baked with that perfect golden-brown crust).
The Crispy Catfish Combo: The crispy catfish delivered a fantastic crunch on the outside.
This was served with more of that stellar mac and cheese, comforting collard greens, and a soft cabbage mix.
We also ordered the delicious sweet potatoes (yams), which were the perfect blend of sweet and savory! The peach cobbler for dessert was fantastic, and the cornbread was incredibly moist!
My only minor hiccup was the drink selection: they had a limited number of beverages, and unfortunately, no ice was available for the Kool-Aid.
Despite the small issue with drinks, this place delivers on flavor and service! If you want a meal that truly warms the soul, you absolutely must visit Pat’s Place. Highly recommended!
From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with warm hospitality: the kind you’d expect from a family-run soul food spot. The aromas of simmering gumbo stock, peppery jambalaya, and slow-braised meats instantly set expectations high. Authentic Flavors: It feels like home cooking—steadily reminiscent of real Louisiana-style soul food.
Perfect for big appetites or sharing with a friend. Plenty of rice, greens, and protein in each meal. Staff are friendly and welcoming, often chatting while serving and asking about your preferences. Its just what you want at a soul food joint. If you’re craving true Southern soul food in San Bernardino, Pat’s Place is a standout. The hearty dishes, authentic seasoning, and welcoming vibe make it a delicious local treasure. Whether you’re in for a chicken-based combo, slow-simmered greens, or creamy mac and cheese, you’ll leave satisfied and planning your next visit. They are open Wednesday through Sunday and every day they have a different menu so make sure you go on the day of the food that you want.
