If you haven’t been here yet, you need to! Came here last night for my work holiday party and all of us had an absolute blast! We shared 2 mushroom tarts, they were exquisite, a crepe, the charcuterie board and 2 Clafoutis to start, all of us had our own favorites. We also shared the Green Bean Salad (very refreshing) and the Burgal salad, which is a barley salad, we were pleasantly surprised with this! We ordered one of every side dish and we had to order a second helping of the beets! People, including myself, got the Beef stew in their rye bread bowl (which was better than any beef stew I’ve had in restaurants and the bread bowl definitely helped make it! Just be careful they leave the bay leaves and stems in!), the lamb shoulder (which I had a bite of and I personally believe is the best in the city!), the cod (again, I got a bite of and was very happy with), the salmon, and the pork roulade. For dessert we shared the beignets (which were a table favorite), the walnut tart, the invitation cake (which had the consistency of AMAZING fudge!), the pumpkin bread pudding and the Apple Cake (which was another table favorite). We also ordered shots of Fernet, a serving of green chartreuse, and a Jasmine tea (French press with loose leaf tea). We did call and ask if we could bring our own wine, which they allowed. All together, the 8 of us ate wonderful food with attentive staff and had an amazing time, and our bill was only $511 and some change! This has easily become my new favorite restaurant to come to before the late shows or after the early shows at the Playhouse!

We were absolutely thrilled to host our recent event at The Friar’s Table. From start to finish, the experience was exceptional and memorable in every way.

The food was simply outstanding, with compliments to the chefs for not only the incredible flavors but also the beautiful presentation. Every dish felt intentional, thoughtful, and crafted with care. Our guests are still raving about the meal.

A special thank you to Brother Phil, who generously took the time to speak with us and share more about The Friar’s Table’s mission. His presence and passion brought even deeper meaning to our experience.

We can’t say enough about General Manager Jon Bosworth. His communication was impeccable from the very beginning. Every detail we discussed was executed perfectly and nothing was overlooked. Jon made the planning process smooth, and his professionalism and warmth truly set the tone for the entire event.

Highly recommend The Friar’s Table for any group looking for a meaningful, elevated, and expertly managed dining experience. We’ll absolutely be back.

We’ve been to Serenity out in Medina (one of Brandon’s other spot) and loved it. That place is more upscale, but this is exactly what you want before a show at Playhouse. Laid back, reasonably priced and it hits the spot.

Mario was our bartender/server and we kinda want to be his friend. Super friendly and just a good dude.

Food was great all around. The pretzel app was a big hit right away… warm, soft, salty, all the good stuff. The pork roulade was crazy tender. The beef stew in the bread bowl was awesome too… super hearty and full of flavor. The salmon was decent but the cream sauce kind of took over the dish (our only dish that wasn’t a Homerun, but the fish itself was still great.) The pizza was also a big win.

For dessert, we loved the Napoleon dessert. perfect end-of-meal sweet spot.

But honestly, the biggest reason to come here is the mission. They’re helping people transition out of homelessness and incarceration, and they give them opportunities in the restaurant. It’s more than just dinner, you’re supporting something that matters. Very cool!

Definitely recommend it. We’ll be back for sure.

We were excited to try this new restaurant before a show at Playhouse Square. Unfortunately, it was an overall below average experience. Hopefully, after some time they will get things worked out and have some improvements. The menu selection is limited. Service was incredibly slow. After finally being able to order, we ordered drinks and food all together. Appetizer came out with the meals, except the salads came out after all the other the food…and we still didn’t have our drinks. We asked the waitress who said she would check. We started eating and flagged a manager who apologized and said she would check. Halfway through the meal the drinks finally arrived without a word. The bread was delicious and the almonds in the salad were also good. The beef stew bread bowl was rye, which I didn’t see on the menu and would not have ordered if I had known. It’s a convenient location for shows, but I don’t plan on returning.

Just incredible; my husband & I stumbled across this place serendipitously before our show at Playhouse, and I can’t say enough nice things. The drinks were tasty and strong. The food was outstanding. And the service was some of the best I’ve ever received (& I’ve been in this industry for over 10 years now). From the floor manager to our fabulous bartender, Lenise, (hope I’m spelling that correctly ), everyone was so warm and inviting and running their asses off! They were a full house on a Thursday, which I love to see for any business. I can’t wait to find another excuse to head up to Cleveland so I can go back! ☺️

There were two gentlemen (John & Ryan on the bar side of dining area) helping us throughout our dining experience and I want to be their friend. They made our night absolutely phenomenal in every way, the food was out of this world and you can just tell they absolutely love what they do. We’ll absolutely be returning!! There was also an incredible lady that I assume was management regularly checking in on us and even showed me the way to the restroom and as I passed the kitchen I had even more pleasantries with staff. If I didn’t have to leave for a play, they’d have a hard time getting me out of here! I couldn’t possibly provide one piece of constructive feedback to this team, the food the service that atmosphere, they’ve got it all.

This place was a mixed bag.

First, the food was very tasty.
We had the Clafoutis appetizer, which was very good.

I had the green bean salad and my wife had the butternut squash soup; both were very good

For our main course I ordered the Beef stew, which is served in a rye bread bowlband tasty. However there was only one piece of beef, but lots of potatoes. It should be called Potato Soup.

My wife had a salad with chicken, and it was good.

I ordered a glass of wine, which never arrived. At least it didn’t appear on the check.

Our server didn’t really check on us or ask us how we were enjoying our meal. Maybe that’s part of the atmosphere.

Good food, mediocre service.

I had an amazing experience at this restaurant, thanks to Cameron and John. Both were exceptional in their service. The atmosphere of the place had a unique, almost monastic feel to it, which added a special touch to the dining experience. The food itself wasn’t overly fancy, but it was simple, wholesome, and easy to digest—exactly what I was craving.

Cameron went above and beyond as our server, paying close attention to our dietary preferences, which I really appreciated. John also took the time to share some fascinating history and cultural insights about the restaurant. It’s clear that this place is special, and I feel truly grateful to have such an establishment nearby.

As someone who believes that you are what you eat, the food here felt truly blessed—nourishing in every sense. I left feeling not only satisfied but spiritually uplifted. Highly recommend this spot!

We’ve been here for lunch and dinner. Great menu items for both. We had the cup of borsch soup both times. Tasty. The chicken spices were top shelf!

This was our second time at the Friars Table. The first time was disappointing with terribly slow service and the food was nothing great. It was when the restaurant first opened. We decided to give it a second chance tonight before a show and the service was terrible. We had 545 pm reservations and our salads came out about 640 and our main courses at 655pm. No one ever came back to check on us or ask if we wanted more drinks. All drinks are served in ceramic glasses, so the staff cant see when we might need more. Trying to flag a staff person was almost impossible. I paid with cash and was not given my due coin change. My bill was rounded up and I was ripped off. We will never return. I rarely take photos of my food, but when I do I make sure they are funny. Here is our beef stew.
