I came here a while back with my godson. It was his first time trying Indian food (he’s only 13). The cafe is spacious, welcoming, and the staff are warm and easygoing. We took a seat at table and received ice waters.

As it was my godson’s first time trying Indian cuisine, I ordered the butter chicken, but threw in an order of paratha and dosa to give him a little something unusual. The butter chicken was pretty good! Great consistency and well-balanced, plus a good portion and a heaping service of white rice.

The paratha was good, too. It was cooked perfectly, had light flavoring, and paired well with the butter chicken. The dosa, though, stole the show. That dosa and the sambar and chutney dips were delicious. My godson and I devoured them happily.

Nandri might not be the best Indian food I’ve ever had, but it’s definitely a great option, especially in an Indian-food deprived area of San Diego like National City. Come here and get that dreamy dosa!

Ive actually been here a few times, tries quite a few dishes
Lastly I tried the “Taco” which was their tender bread as a tortilla and their chicken.
A slapper.
The butter chicken is amazing, not a fan of the chicken in there, but their other chicken which is Chicken Fried, is amazing.
Off the top of my head I could not tell you what other dishes and how to pronounce them, but they’re all amazing
A while back they had a sample platter which allowed me to try different kinds and none of then disappointed.
The staff is really nice and kind as well.
Definitely the best place to try indian food that is around here, without it being super commercial

My friend said go checkout this Indian Cafe place and so we made a special trip.

The owners are so hospitable!

Plenty of space, and so cute.

The food. Oh my goodness… The absolute best!!! So delicious. The fried chicken was so amazing. Soft and tender with a crispy outer shell. My husband ordered the Flight to India so you get a sampler of delish food!

I loved it so much I ordered catered curry chicken (so creamy) and some other creamy and well flavored Indian spiced meal that had like a buttered cheese in it.

Im a bit new to Indian food so I don’t know the names. However I know delish Indian food. Just go and try it. YOU’LL LOVE IT!!!

This is a unique family owned spot for sure. It’s a large modern cafe with a great game selection, full menu, and full sized portions. We had the pleasure of meeting the owners Angel, her husband, and their kiddo. These are her family recipes from southern Indian (Chennai) and she makes everything from scratch. The food just tasted healthier and not heavy probably due to quality ingredients. You can tell they take a lot of pride in their work. The place is super clean and spacious. It would make an awesome location for events or just a fun place to hang out.

After four years in San Diego, I finally stumbled upon this South Bay treasure—and it felt like discovering a secret I should’ve known all along. From the first bite, I was transported straight to South India: flavors layered with care, spices blooming with warmth, every dish carrying the soul of healthy home cooking.

What surprised me most is that it wasn’t the heavy, Americanized Indian food that usually leaves your stomach weighed down. Instead, it was vibrant, balanced, and nourishing—comforting yet light enough to keep you wanting more.

The goat biryani was fragrant and rich, each grain of rice infused with depth. The chicken curries lingered on the palate, comforting yet refined. And the iced chai? A revelation—brewed from scratch with real organic spices, delicate and alive, worlds away from the syrup-laden versions we’ve been conditioned to accept.

Speaking with the owner made it all the more special. These recipes are her mother’s, rooted in Tamil Nadu and Andhra, lovingly carried across generations. This family-owned restaurant is more than a place to eat—it’s a story, a labor of love, and a reminder that food tastes best when it’s made with heart. Support your local family owned restaurants SD!

I love coming here, the food is always amazing and well seasoned. My favorite is the shrimp curry turf with coconut rice, it is only available on the weekends, and I try to always have it when I can. Recommended!!! (Support family-owned businesses!)

Amazing food, very reasonably priced. Great taste and you can get it as hot as you want. Definitely coming back.

Little update: I’ve tried a few different plates by now and every time I leave happier than the time before.
It’s a must go place!

I’m extremely happy with the fried cauliflower (Gobi … something?) . The broccoli option is good but I absolutely loved the cauliflower one. I’m not a vegetarian, but I would not mind skipping on meat for one meal if that’s what I was having.

Nandri is a restaurant focusing on South Indian food, which is very different from the widely known North Indian food that most people are used to.

Unlike your common “Himalayan” or “Tandoori” restaurants, which use food coloring, yesterday’s chicken and pre-made curries, Nandri makes everything from scratch, each and every single day.

The food is incredibly delicious and of excellent quality. My favorite here is the goat curry.

Angel and Isaac, the owners, are good people and will take care of you if you choose to visit.

As a person from South India, I do not go here just for Indian food but for a taste of home.

Incredible value! The portions are massive and the prices are unbeatable. The Butter Chicken is delicious, and the fried chicken the most tender meat I’ve ever had.

The service was impeccable, and the restaurant is huge with plenty of seating for everyone. A must-visit!
