We serve food that more often than not accesses the part of our deepest soul where genuine expression flows forth. We have always tried to give our food and service our best selves, as honest and vulnerable as we can muster. We’re a place where you might actually have a real connection; maybe with your server, maybe with your food or maybe with your dorky host who is ACTUALLY glad you’re there.
Oh, you wanted a restaurant description? Sorry. We’re not big on labels. Our food is hard to nail down as we are constantly evolving and entirely seasonal and personal. We’ve used “Food you eat” as a tag line on occasion and that’s still accurate. We could also describe it as “Food we really want you to eat”. When you’re here, tell us what you think
Neighborhood spot with an ever-changing menu of homestyle cooking with a twist.

such a cute place wit a good amount of vegan options! started off with the garlic butter parm brussel sprouts and the sweet potato! both were sooo yum (even better when combined lol). for the mains, I got the eggplant thing which was … interesting. the eggplant itself was crispy and crunchy but the soup/wtew it was on was … not my fav lol. interesting flavors kinda reminded me of goulash! wish it was a little more seasoned and hot, but overall pretty good experience and i would go again! also the sweetest and friendliest server helped us and 10/10 for service and ambiance!

Absolutely delicious. Mostly gluten free menu and very accommodating for dairy free needs as well. Our waitress was so wonderful, too. A little chilly in the parklet but they had blankets for us. 10/10.

Goddamn this place is a gem. If you’re gluten-free, Firefly will become your favourite restaurant in the city. If you’re gluten-full, I reckon it still will too 🙂
For starters, the atmosphere here is very warm and cozy. Perfect for a fall evening. The art and eccentric ornaments/details don’t go unnoticed. I really appreciate how this doesn’t just feel like a restaurant — it’s almost like an extension of your own home (just with awe-striking gluten-free food.)
Which brings me to… the gluten-free food.
Fried chicken?! I mean… how?! This was my first fried chicken ever, and it did not disappoint. It also exceeded my boyfriend’s expectations (who loves the gluten) — so you know it’s good.
The squash dish was exceptional — so too were the sweet potatoes.
But the cherry on top of it all was the brownie with cornflakes and vanilla ice custard… I haven’t stopped thinking about it ever since.
It’s a 99.9% gluten free menu, asides from 1 side of bread which can be swapped for cornbread (if I’m recalling correctly) so BASICALLY it’s HEAVEN ON EARTH

Food was delicious. Highly recommend the sweet potatoes tostones and fried chicken and the crepes florentine. The atmosphere was magical. Really kind people. Fireflies remind me of home and I miss them as california does not have any lightning bugs that I have seen. Oh Firefly, thank you for a magical memory of a lifetime.

Hands down, top food I’ve had and on top of it all was gluten free. I’m GF and the fact I had options outside of changing the bun, or just a burger is first win but I had fried chicken, gravy, Mac and cheese, bread and they weren’t subs it was just their menu. Sammy was an INCREDIBLE waitress and took care of us and added to the evening. It was all so filling and for the atmosphere and food it was fairly priced. We are visiting but would 100% go back, it was delish! You must go. And she brought a blanket out for us since we sat in their outdoor seating

We really enjoy firefly. My wife is strict vegan, and they have many dishes which either are or can be made vegan. I am not vegan. We always get the seed loaf, really enjoy the rustic flavors. I enjoy the Pao de Queijo, and the onion jam that comes with it is my favorite. The Mexican street corn is mild and delightful.
My wife enjoys the daikon radish cakes and usually gets them as her main, supplemented with something else since they’re a starter and a little small for a main. The choppy salad is excellent even in vegan form. The spring salad is also excellent as a vegan option. I’ve had both the fried chicken and the braised pork; both are excellent. The only quibble is that the “damn fine buttermilk biscuit” hasn’t actually been that great on two occasions – it tends to be overcooked and not so tender. The cornbread is much better although it too tends to be overcooked. The Mac and cheese is fine but not spectacular.
For dessert, the chocolate peanut butter bar is excellent, but get the vanilla ice cream rather than the coffee cocoa nib vegan ice cream if you can. The dulce de leche pot de creme is excellent but very rich. And the key lime pie is also excellent, not too tart or too sweet – just right, but smaller than I would like.

Five star, creative DELICIOUS food. Easy Street parking. Friendly, professional, knowledgeable staff. Nice restroom. Casual yet festive ambience. Fun place for celebrations or dates.
They do NOT do take out. The focus is on the people who are present to them. And in turn, they are present to the people enjoying the warm, hospitable welcome.
Pricey but SO worth it.

What a great dining experience. Friends had heard about this restaurant but not yet visited — and gosh, are we happy they let us join them! The menu is mostly gluten free — and where it is not, alternatives were available. The flavors were well paired — the artichoke and green olive salad is a great way to start a meal. The wine list offers a great variety at most price points. From a truly gluten free perspective, the max and cheese was good — would have like a little more flavor, but that’s probably personal preference. The friend chicken was next level — perfect mix of crispy and moist — and not too greasy. The brownie sundae featured salted caramel drizzle and crispy corn flakes — it was great way to end the meal. All in all, this was a delicious meal and we highly recommend the visit.

Ventured into a new neighborhood that I haven’t been too lately…Noe Valley! Made a reservation for a date out with the wife. We were fortunate to get a reservation about the time that they opened. The service was great. The food was well portioned and reasonable. The menu items were unique and delicious. The only draw back is that they don’t have typical soft drinks like Coke, etc. I guess the menu was unique enough that I should’ve expected that. All good. Will be back in the future!

I went here with my coworkers for dinner and had a great time! The staff was very welcoming and a lot of fun! They accommodated all of our food allergies (and we had a TON) without any issue. The food itself was very good too! The options were not my typical choice of food, but I’m very glad I tried new things! The soda they have is delicious (my favorite beverage of the trip!) And there house specialty, chicken, was outstanding. I had the trout and it was phenomenal! They said it was the last night they were making it that particular way, which was sad because it knocked my socks off!
All in all, it was a great evening with great food and people!
Last thought: the seed loaf was interesting! Worth a try if you are curious!
